He very well may have been a pedophile, BEFORE joining the church. But becoming clear releases you from those unnatural desires. After that you're free to coach little league or even go on church sponsored youth camp trips safely without worrying about your former perversion ruining the trip!

On a trip to NYC we were walking around, on the East Side just off of Central Park. We passed up a "Scientology Celebrity Centre." Hung out across the street for a while and saw some woman go in. She had big glasses and was covered up pretty well... I often wonder who that was.

ETA here it is... note the sign for the introductory film the other poster mentioned.

I don't know him as a friend, but when I was in high school, there was a guy a grade ahead of me who was a scientologist. He scored a perfect score on both the ACT and SAT. Gave me respect for the religion, honestly, as he attributed his success to it.

Yes, all religion is crazy, ours offers a path to sanity in an insane world. Please come to one of our centers in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. A thetan reading is free, and we can get your OTA levels up for only $15,000 a year.
That's cheaper than the average tithe, yet you get something for it. Once you have been in the church for ten years then we can share the gospels of our beloved founder with you.

the initial scientology tenets seem appealing on the surface. they teach you to deal with your problems in a (somewhat) logical and very empowering manner. You also have access to a very influential and powerful network of fellow members.

It's when you start getting into the higher levels that it's revealed to be complete and utter batshit crazy nonsense.

I was in New York in November of 07. Me and some friends were walking down the street and i saw a "church of Scientology." I wanted to go in and just see what all the fuss was about. Inside was very nice, clean, and well kept. I talked to a receptionist and she told me an "informational video" would be starting in like 7 minutes. She showed to this mini theater. It had like a 100 inch screen and like 20 or so chairs like a movie theater. me and my 3 buddies sat down and like 4 other people showed up. The video started and was saying stuff like "you are the reason you have cancer. it is controlled by the neurons on your brain." they had a brain on the screen with arrows pointing to different lobes saying which ones made you sick and which ones could heal you and crap. Well, we walked out. We decided to just walk around and they had classrooms that were glass walls so you could see through ever wall in all of the 5-6 classrooms. You could see people in there being taught like they were in school. They were in desks, taking notes with some type of professor doing the teaching, and writing different crap on a whiteboard. Well, while we were walking around, this old man, like 70 years old, found us and was like "you cant be back here. this is off limits." we were like sorry, we were just leaving from the informational video and got lost. That old man slapped the girl that was with us in the shoulder and told us we needed to leave now or he was calling the cops. we left and that was that. it was super weird.

like, that's like crazy, like real crazy brah. Like brainwashing crazy, like.

One time I was walking down the street and decided to take a free personality test. The test administrator told me I was super depressed and that the Church of Scientology could help me if I paid $240. So I gave them the $240, which I had been saving for a new bike, and I was taken into an auditing room where an attendant checked my thetan levels using an E-Meter. She couldn't believe my test results so she sent them off to headquarters in Los Angeles. The president of Scientology told me my scores were so high, that I must be the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard. It was pretty weird.

No little league but my uncle used to bring me and my friends on camping trips a lot. We used to play a game to see how many of us could fit in one sleeping bag.
