I got offered alcohol and bong hits a lot.

I hooked up with a girl one night and must have mentioned where I worked. She ordered food under a different name and answered the door hammered looking to hook up again. Super creepy at the time, but I probably should have gone with it. Should throw in she was one you don't necessarily brag about to your friends.

I had a North BR resident literally throw a bike at my truck. Delivered to a house and as I'm getting in my truck, dude just ro)'s up and as I'm taking off, I see him throwing the bike in my direction. It missed, but it was a huge WTF moment.

Had a North BR resident answer the door in a blood covered hospital gown. Paid from a crown royal bag he had hidden under his couch that was stuffed with $100's. Obvious drug house.

I also worked until 3 a.m. the night before/morning of Katrina. That was a hell of a night.

I was a few years before you. If you thought things were good then, you should've worked there during my time. Was Travis still a manager then? Loved that guy.

Like I said, after you pay gas, I would still make about 10-12 bucks an hour on a good day, and 18-20 on a monster day.
Yeah, but if you figure depreciation, oil change, tires, wipers, and assorted other true operating costs - $0.575 per mile, according to the gov (and high frequency start/stop mileage probably should have much higher price) - you're probably losing money at that rate.

I too was expecting more Penthouse Letters type stories herein.

Used to get the drivers in college to buy us beer on the way over if we’d been drinking and couldn’t drive and we’d give them $10-15 tips for doing it (as well as cost of the beer).

Had one driver smell burning plants in our house and asked if he could join and turned out he had better shite than us in his front pocket

My brother in law is a teacher and used to deliver for a Papa Johns in Lafayette over the weekends. He told me he made close to $300 on good weekends but usually averaged around $200. He is a Vice Principal now, so he doesn't have the time.

There was chinese, pizza, and pluckers while I was in BR.

Not aware of any chinese place that delivers, but pluckers still delivers. pay extra + no points so I usually just sit at the bar, drink a beer, and ask for a box.

And for people who do not tip delivery drivers because they think all responsibility should lie with him if the pizza is late.

Yea 20 an hour is normal during rush. 5-8 during week. To 10-11 on weekends depending on your customer demographics.
The systems plot your route for you now like a FedEx driver. That 20/hr includes min wage(drops to 4 an hr when you leave on a delivery), tips, and mileage($1.50 to $2 per run. Could take 3-4 "runs" at a time during peak rush).

Unless your area sucks, this claim is very attainable. But don't expect to make $20 cash /hr working a 10 hr weekend shift. 150-200 cash is attainable for say super bowl Sunday or big LSU away game, but usually 90-120 is realistic.

Bottom line. It's the best second job for professional men(career day job). Women tend to find sweet bartender gigs.

Well I like to wiggle my bean. Maybe I'll get a night job.

One time I had a shot at this was with an islander looking beast bigger than me. She did come to door in a see-through night gown though. This was off Bayou Fountain circa 94.

I've accidentally seen a fine arse co-ed nekkid off a dale Street circa 97.

Tried to hit on a pill head drunk milf wearing only a t-shirt and panties to the door, with a Bud heavy in one hand and a cig in other. Circa 2012 off Joe Sevario in that hood where a meth lab burned a nice house.

I got hit on by dudes a good bit though.

Been involved in 3 armed robberies related to pizza. None was me as driver getting robbed.

Eta: a big girl did hit on me off summa in 01. I should have done it but was about to get married.

I was a driver about 15 years ago. Minimum wage plus mileage plus tips. I'd word 4-5 hours on a weekend night and make $100-$150. Maybe $50-$75 on a weeknight.

Lots of stories from other drivers about being hit on, fulfilling crazy women's fantasies, etc. but I think they were mostly BS.

My best story was this:

We close on the weekends around 2am. Got a call for some hot wings at 1:30. Get there, dude is baked out of his mind. Order total was like $10. He only had $100 bill. I said "man, I only have $10 in change". He said, "what do we do?" I said, "well, either I get an $80 tip or you go hungry"

I got an $80 tip.

I remember this one time, I was delivering an order of our large extra sausage special. A youngish woman in just a robe answered the door.

I told her what she owed me and she said "I'm hungry for some sausage, but I don't have any money..."

Then, she accidentally dropped her robe and signaled me to follow her up the stairs. She led me to her bedroom door, opened the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur.
