I have ATT uverse and have had only one issue. It involved my TVs only which kept cutting out. It took three tech appointments and two technicians. The second appointment was cancelled 10 minutes before arrival due to "double booking". Both techs fiddled around here and at the main terminal for probably 5 hours combined. Both came in and said the problem should be fixed. It was never fixed.
I had told them the issue happened when it was storming or windy. I ended up fixing the issue myself by tacking a flopping cable to the pole that would blow in the wind and cause a short at the terminal on the pole. Literally a 50 cent fix that should have been obvious.

I’d be happy if we could get rid of directv and go with something cheaper but it’s the absolute only option to get Astros games.

I switched to DTV in August. My Cox bill was insane. It had gone up to $340 (included the sports package and showtime, internet and landline).

Looked into DTV, talked them into giving me the NFL package for free last year and would get all the movie channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime), more sports channels available, internet, landline for $170.

The first thing I asked was "so will it go out on me everytime it rains?". The guy said "We get that question a lot. It use to, but when AT&T bought DTV they put up a new satellite and that improved it to a 99% no signal loss. While I new there was some bullshite to that, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

But there are several things I do not like about DTV.

- It does go out when the weather is bad (it starts going out when it starts raining steady).

- If you record a series, it only keeps the last 5 episodes. So if you decide you are going to record the whole series of a show then binge watch it after all the episodes are released, you will learn that all the episodes are not there, it only keeps the last 5 and you have to pay to get the earlier episodes.

- They have a lot of sales channels.

You cam manage your recordings so it records unlimited times. We have had to do it on several shows. I believe YouTube should have something to show you how to do it

That’s the default setting. You can increase the number it saves, up to All Episodes. Go to one of the recorded episodes, hit Info, then Series Options. Click on Keep at Most.

We cut the cord on our DirectTV over a year ago.

Streaming is so much better.

Been with Direct TV since 2010 and never had one problem. I pay $250/mo for my phone, internet and choice package.

I feel you. I knew what little amount of customer service would dissipate after AT&T acquired them

The mistake people make about direct/att is thinking they care about customer service. They don’t. Existing customers don’t matter one single bit to them. All they care about is a signing a new customer to a contract. Once they have that, they don’t give one single frick about you. My family has had directv since 1997 and never lived anywhere that changing providers was really an option...and I think there are a lot of people in that boat.

I have the Direct TV now app, and stream. Couldn't be happier with it. $40 a month including HBO.

We have this as well. Best part is you can also download the HBO Go app with it and get tons of streaming content in it as well.

ETA: and also, since I have AT&T as my mobile carrier, I can stream DirecTV data free anywhere.

Moving to TX end of month. Called to cancel. No problems. I can bring my equipment to a UPS store and they will scan it, package it in a box, and send to Direct TV. No charges. I’m not unhappy about that deal.

We certainly were until I found out about the really unlimited Verizon hotspot. It was a game changer for sure.

We had DirecTV for 2 months back in 2003. Once it rained hard for several and we had no service, I got rid of that shite and haven't looked back since.

I'm fed up with everything, and tired of streaming services raising subscription prices.

So here’s a dumbass question. I cancelled directv last week, I have the original equipment I got 4 years ago when I signed up. They never said anything about returning it, do I have to return the equipment?
