New (upgraded) receivers added -- don't work properly (continual error messages after changing channels).

"Customer Service" people speak some version of 'Anglish' that I can't comprehend. Technicians can't solve problem. But they refuse to swap the new POS receivers for my old ones.

TL;DR I paid $450 to upgrade receivers. Direct TV has really lousy customer service.

They are perfectly willing to come back when I call (4 hour appointment window - someone has to meet them), fiddle with the boxes for an hour, and pronounce them "fine." But three or four hours later the same errors pop up.

I cancelled a month ago after continued rising costs. Definitely better off now.

Be diligent when cancelling. I had to call 4 times before they sent me the box to return my equipment. Then, it took 2 more phone calls and 4 weeks to confirm reciept of my equipment and send my refund.

I have the Direct TV now app, and stream. Couldn't be happier with it. $40 a month including HBO.

Can you further explain what comes with the app and stream subscription?

I do. We do not have broadband, or cable where I live. Do you have a suggestion? I will be happy to hear it and save $150 per month.

I get that problem when I call American Express. American Express.

But that's for another thread.

Cut the Direct TV cord and don't miss it and the escalating subscription cost.

I just purchased a condo that the previous owner left his directTV equipment. I called DTV between 5-10 times and went to an AT&T store trying to return the equipment. They said it was "not my problem" and that I could just throw them in the trash. I tried over and over again to return the equipment (which is less than a year old). Ended up throwing it in the trash a couple days ago I bought the condo at the beginning of March and have been trying a couple times a week to return it or get a return box sent.

ETA: Their customer service reps that can't speak English except what they read off the script make me want to throw my phone off a cliff.
