I have been a customer since 1995. Their service was always good to me until they were bought out by AT&T. Since then, they've been trash. That's been my observation any way. This is my last month of using them. I'm switching over to PS Vue.

You got an idiot installer probably. Call them and at first prompt tell the machine you want to cancel. Not move service, cancel. You will get connected to retention. Tell them it is unwatchable, continual problems and you need to cancel and go to Dish because they will pay for the switch and you will not have those problems.

They should give you credits for having to miss work to stay home for service. They should give you credits for continually having problems. They should fix the problem. You need to talk to rententions and tell them how pissed you are because their stuff doesn't work.

I haven't had many technical problems with them and I've had DTV since 1997. They just swapped out an old Genie setup with a new one & it works perfectly. AT&T didn't do any favors for their customer service though, calling them is hit and miss, sometimes you'll get Doug in India & sometimes you'll get Doug in Denver. I cancelled my old account 2 months ago when my bill was $145 for Choice- with no movie channels (paid Cox $88 for internet separately). Re-subscribed with a 1G internet bundle and now pay about $120 for the same channel package + HBO + internet. Oh & price is locked for 2 years on the TV part.

Why did you pay to upgrade equipment? They give that out free.

I am bumping this topic.

Tried to set up service online for my new house yesterday. I don't want DTV but husband loves it and can't wait to get rid of EATEL once we move.

I select the package and installation time, pay the one time fee. I receive an email a while later notifying me that my credit card was declined and that to finish processsing my order, I had to call them. After being on the phone for 40 minutes and passed to about 7 different people with equally terrible skills in comprehending and speaking English, I hung up.

Someone please help me present other options to my husband. We had DTV for many years in our old house, and even then the customer service sucked, but now that it's AT&T it's on a whole new level. I do not want to have to deal with that for the eventual issues we will have in regards to billing and technical.

We cancelled Direct TV because the bill kept going up and up. My husband had already payed our May bill so when we cancelled we requested a refund via check for the payment of $165.73. After spending 1 hour on the phone they refused to refund our money! They said the new policy is to offer you promotions to act as a refund! How is that going to help me? We do not have any AT&T services and never will! Direct TV was bad enough but since AT&T has taken over the service, billing, and customer service is terrible!

I remember the days when DirecTV was universally praised for their customer service.

Thanks to AT&T those days are long gone.

I dropped both AT&T and directv last month. Saving a little more than $400 a month now. Very happy.

TL;DR I paid $450 to upgrade receivers.

You must really love to watch TV to spend that much on receivers . I cut DTV out about 5 years ago and I was only paying $60 a month for 1 receiver. Anything I want to watch can be found on the web. frick DTV.

Was paying $140 a month with direct TV. Threatened to quit them. They offered us same channels for $46 month 2 year contract or $66 month no contract. Chose the $66 month.

Cancelled Tuesday. Was easy, just make up an excuse they can’t argue back with.
I told them my wife joined a new religion and wanted all TV and Internet cancelled so we could give more to the church. Threw a few God Bless you’s In the conversation and we we were done very quickly.

Yeah, they called a few weeks ago and offered to upgrade for free. The catch was that it would put me in a new 2 year contract. I told them I would not do anything that would prevent me from cancelling. They've been calling every other day since then, I'm not taking their calls and will be dropping them soon.
