So, some have a discount for "Special Offers". If you read the print, you can get a Paperwhite for $139 without "special offers" and for $119 with "special offers".
The special offers to save $20 means you will get ads on the screen. That's the one I ordered. Would have spent the $20 to not have ads. Sigh.

The ads are only on the Screensaver and bottom of the home screen and some are for free books. They never show up when you are reading. That's why I decided to save the $20

Makes me feel a bit better. Wonder why some are not eligible for the offer? I've only had Amazon Prime since November and actually hadn't bought anything for a couple of months. I wonder if it's a targeted thing for those who haven't purchased lately.

58 Dollars for the kindle white and charger after offer. Applied for the amazon rewards visa card and got a 60 dollar gift card for being approved on that.

I looked into this. You can always buy your way out of the ads later. So if they are bothering me that much, I'll pay the extra $20 to turn them off.
I thought about applying for that credit card to get the extra $60. Maybe I should have done that! Oh well, still excited about my new kindle.

I don't think that's it, I literally buy 2-3 things on amazon each week. I'm regular buddies with my UPS guy

I'd like to see that thread. I only know how to get 2 free books every month: One from the Kindle First selection monthly and 1 borrowed book from the Kindle library every month. If there are more ways to get free books, I'd love to know!

I don't know...I have been looking at the kindle fire hdx for several weeks from my amazon account and I am not eligible. Maybe because they think I already have one bc I buy kindle books all the time? I download them to my ipad though. Was thinking about the kindle for my son. Guess I need to go look at the kindle some more and sit back and wait...
