It's per capita and also includes property crimes. Lot's of break in around Alexandria by meth heads looking for prescriptions.

I'd move there. I'd love to be within driving distance of False River, LSU, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and decent food....even if it is Alexandria. Hell, I miss Memphis.

Or you can just live in BR or Lafayette

Consider Pineville over Alexandria. Seriously it's a shite hole.

I love both of those towns but I assumed that the OP had a job in Alexandria.

I've been there a few times and it's definitely more Shreveport than Lafayette, which is unfortunate.

Looks like it's cheap to live there. They've got an airport with main line carriers. Couple of manufacturers there but I'm not sure what it's economy is based on. It's well north of the Tuscaloosa Trend so that might explain why it's not as prosperous as some areas to the south.

Not a damn thing unless you spend a lot of time in the woods.

Well working at LSU-A you should have no problem keeping up with the limited bachelor scene and what bars and what not to do. I know I did when I went there. Also crime is only a problem in the hood, the police focus on keeping the hood contained and letting them do whatever but keeping them out of the better neighborhoods. Anyone that crosses out of the hood gets prosecuted with the vengenance.

He will only be 40 minutes from the diamond jewel of Louisiana AKA Leesville. Also just down the road from the metropolis of the LA timber industry AKA Oakdale.

I think that was the big oil and gas play 20-40 years ago in south central Louisiana. Avoyelles and Rapides were a little north of it...it was closer to New Roads, Pointe Coupee, and St. Landry parish I think.

Eventually I imagine Tuscaloosa Marine Shale will develop and Alexandria will benefit from it.

I was thinking he meant the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale which was a flop with $100 oil. It's dead now

It's dead now but that may not be the case in 10 years. Keeping my fingers crossed.

That part of the state can use the boost it would provide.
