Any good parent would force their kid to have at least some sort of job in high school and college.

This, both get a set amount per month and if they run out tough shite. The only exception is a true emergency ie: car breaks down, laptop dies, etc.

My parents did something similar for me. I got a set amount of money each month, and it was up to me to budget bills and expenses each month. I only completely took over when my father got sick my junior year.

Eta: my parents did also teach me a general respect for money throughout my life too though. That was pretty important.

Yea and that's the parents fault. Kids don't just fall out of the womb with their identity already established.

that is a pretty fair statement. Too many (myself included) did not have to work growing up and really hindered maturing. Parents shelter there kids way too much these days, we have a thread after thread about how stupid the "everyones a winner movement" then bash the kids that came out of it. At some point the older generation has to take credit for the monster they created.

Having said that, this girl needs to be bitch slapped with reality.

She was clearly always doomed to be stupid, but listen to the interview and tell me she had outstanding parents with her POV. That POV just doesn't happen by accident, it's instilled from an early age by her environment at large. If she grew up in a lower class family, no way in hell would she think this way.

It seems like the cause and effect is backwards here.

See, the above makes sense and is likely what you were trying to say with the original quote below.

Internet was not a part of daily life for most 22 year olds.

Sorry, it came out wrong. I'm saying she is a spoiled bimbo because her parents raised her that way. Took out "but that" from my first post that's confusing people.

I only work in the summer. Are my parents acceptable by your standard?

Yeah I'm 22 and can clearly remember not having a home computer. Also this chick is ridiculously stupid, and I feel very sorry for the poor sap who ends up marrying her because he will never make enough money.

As someone who waited tables and bartended through college, I disagree. I think school is full time and I'll want my future kids to focus on that. Work a full time job/internship in the summers and other breaks. If they want to work a 10-20 hours a week during the semester for some spending money, so be it. But I'd prefer them focus on school and being involved. I had a decent gpa after school, but had I not worked so many hours, I really think I could have done much better.
