Hypothetical not involving jolly ranchers.

You're on a game show and this is the deal:

There is $20,000 cash in front of you. You can take the cash and go home if you'd like OR you can flip a coin one time for $100,000 cash.

Personally, I flip the coin.

Flip. 20k is ok, but not life changing.

20k cash. Max out an IRA and Could enjoy my last year in college while only working 20 hrs a week instead of 60.

I'll take the 20. I'll turn it in to 200k within a year.

Exactly. If it isn't life changing you have to play the odds. If the amount is life changing the 50/50 odds are worse than the 100% chance of a life changing but smaller amount.

You're right. It would be a shitty coin flip to lose though. I feel like having nothing at stake changes my view a little on the whole odds thing too.

Then you go to the roulette wheel and bet on green.

$20k. I suck at gambling, even with those odds.

How many jolly ranchers (weight in lbs) could I buy with $20k vs 100k?

I'll pay someone $100k if these stupid arse "do this or get this amount of money" threads.

I'd flip the coin. If you said 20m or 100m, I'd take the 20m. I get the percentages, but 20m is enough for me and all my family to live happily forever. Not sure how the extra 80m would improve that.

I would flip. I mean, frick. What's the big deal with taking one month's pay up-front? This is the OT. Amirite?
