I have an MDX. It guzzles gas and is expensive. Also, I'm constantly wishing it was bigger.

The current xc60 has a significantly nicer exterior than the old xc90.

The xc60 is more of a midsize crossover while the xc90 is a full size suv.

The interior of the xc60 looks more dated than the exterior.

Yes, it has a phone number keypad on the dash.

I'll retract my statement about the exterior look being dated (it is), and say only in comparison to the fantastically modern and sophisticated new XC90 if that makes you feel better.

Last year, I was in a similar situation when buying for my wife (2016 XC90 vs 2016 Acura MDX vs Highlander). We looked at the JGC, because I loved the way they looked, but they just felt cheaper compared to the rest (We were looking at the summit)

The highlander is probably the most sensible, it has great resale value, safety, reliability, etc. Wife didn't like the way it looked.

I thought the 2016 XC90 was the best looking of the bunch. We were concerned with it being the first year of the model, and Volvo also being expensive repairs (Or so we had heard). We also heard they were safe, but not as reliable as the Japanese luxury brands.

We went with the 2016 Acura MDX advance (Front wheel drive, didn't see the benefit of AWD in Houston). This was mainly because we had such a bad experience with her old car (BMW 3 series) and I really didn't want to go with another European brand, so that knocked off Volvo.

It has been the best car either of us have ever owned. Super nice, no problems at all, reliable, safe, 3rd row, easy/cheap maintenance. I honestly have zero complaints, and the dealership has been really nice/helpful, which is so refreshing after having to deal with the a**holes at BWM for 5 years.
