False.

Women were invented well before then.

i should start a business reselling 1980s washing machines with 10 year guarantees to people

I have a friend that has an appliance biz. He sells the new stuff (including very high-end kitchen stuff) but his Dad (who started the biz) makes more money (% wise and by a long shot) selling the older stuff than he does.

There's absolutely no reason to digitize something as simple as a fricking washing machine. It's so stupid what they've done to appliances these days.

We have some LG machine that apparently the only way to get the diagnostics codes for a problem is via some bluetooth connection.

WTF

Bruh, it's got a door within a door where I can add things after I've already started a load. So what if I have to spend $1500 on a new one every 5 years?

LoL!!! Quite possibly The dumbest thing No One asked for.
So is it too cumbersome now to pull back the cycle knob to stop the load?!??

buy a whole house energy monitor instead that recognizes the 'washing machine' signature and get notified that way.
We have already discussed this. None of them work yet.

but why not have the washing maching send you an alert when it is done. Then you could yell at the wife for not unloading it once it is done.

I looked at the new models a few years ago when ours went on the fritz. It was the most stressful shopping because I hated all the new shite. Fotunately my husband and my dad were able to locate a new part and fix ours.

That's another complaint I have about the new ones ... if something goes wrong, you can't fix it yourself anymore.

Man I wish they had an app that would hook to my rice cooker like iRice or something. I hate waiting for the rice to cook when I get home and already got everything else hotted up

1980s maytag washer:

- motor
- pump
- belt
- mechanical board

dryer:

- motor
- heating element
- belt
- mechanical board

parts are like $15 online and about 30 minutes to do any repairs.

All of my 2000 model Maytags in my rental house are running like champs.

How many washing machines do you have in your rental house? Is it really so big you need multiple?

My late-1980s GE combo unit that came with my apartment works great, only problem with it is that it's too small.

Or you could use that lump of flesh between your ears to control your hands and feet in combination with a little common sense.

We had an old one like your Maytag until recently. Loved it. But, it finally broke down and we got a new one (it would have been more expensive to fix the old one).

Hate it with all the settings, it's digital, etc. I miss the old one.

My Samsung refrigerator was a giant piece of shite. Left it when you sold my house. I'll never have another Samsung appliance.

i would love to see the repair estimate. the worst thing is you would need a new motor and you could buy a used on on craigslist for $50 and yank the motor out (since the motors pretty much last forever)
