Recall of exploding washing machines

meanwhile, all my 1985 maytag set does is work, work work.

every.

single.

time.

like a swiss clock.

and with simple maintenance should last another 50+ years.

planned obsolescence? nah. not possible.

Bruh, it's got a door within a door where I can add things after I've already started a load. So what if I have to spend $1500 on a new one every 5 years?

I actually bought a new washer and dryer last week. The salesman at Lowes told me not to get the Samsung because they explode. I got the Whirlpool.

There's absolutely no reason to digitize something as simple as a fricking washing machine. It's so stupid what they've done to appliances these days.

I guess I got lucky with my Samsung washer and dryer, going strong for 7 years. (Hopefully it doesn't bite the dust after this post )

4 years ago we bought a new house. Had been using all older appliances that were given to us. My wife wanted all new everything for the new house.. furniture, washer, dryer, etc. Bought a new set of MayTags and they do great but the new energy saving stuff makes them take like 80-90 minutes for a regular load of clothes. Our old units were like 25-30 minutes. I do miss that about them.

If I had a dollar for every time you've pimped your old arse washing machine on this site, I could get you a brand new speed queen.

no you don't. washing machines beat the shite out of electronics..how else can they handle spinning 400lbs of wet clothes?

buy a whole house energy monitor instead that recognizes the 'washing machine' signature and get notified that way.

yup. maytag takes maybe 25 minutes a load.

and its a beast.

you should beat your wife for getting rid of something that works for something 'new and shiny'.

funny thing is, these pop up for $100/set on craigslist ALL. THE. TIME.

people have zero clue what they're throwing out.

i should start a business reselling 1980s washing machines with 10 year guarantees to people
