What's been a bigger issue on the road: line play or play calling?

What say you? It's close, but I'm leaning towards line play.

The former.

Which in turn influences the latter.

True. Carolina and Seattle are the two prime examples.

Yeah, Sophandros agrees with me.
He knows a good argument when it's about to be made.

I'd have to say the poor line play has lead them to abandon the run for the most part and then we get one dimensional and the poor pass blocking starts rearing it's head.

But Payton does seem to go full retard on some of those calls.

More the line but some of those calls Payton just tries to get too cute.

Play calling against the Rams. Saints could have played it very conserative and not given a very bad offense great field position.

Brown seemed like he never got strong enough to play the position. I'm liking the potential that Armstead brings to our run game going into the playoffs.

Armstead is playing better than anyone has any right to expect.

I mean, he was playing for Arkansas Pine Bluff 13 months ago.
He's only played in 2 NFL games.

Payton needs to go to more heavy packages on the road to spark the run game. He is trying way too hard to prove that offense can operate with the multiple personnel & formation changes after every play that it has hurt more then it has helped.

He needs to pick a grouping that has performed the best, been most consistent & just ride them for 3-4 series maybe only rotating out backs to catch their breath.

To make a major run this year I think Jordan, Hicks and Junior shall lead the way.

Play calling easy.

Stop calling long as developing routes if you're line can't block for that long. And I wouldn't say we abandoned the run because we were bad it, bc that's actually not true. The YPC is actually quite good for all our backs.

The noise

First it disrupts the oline and snap count so you don't get the split second advantage on the D

Also we use a complicated kill play calling system where we call two plays at once. Drew can kill the first play when he doesn't like what he sees but if it's loud it causes miscommunications

Atmospheric temp is the biggest issue facing the Saints.

Honestly, I don't believe our road play is as bad as all of the pundits would have you believe. 2 of the losses came on the final drive of the game. In both games, the Saints could have put the game away, but chose to play conservative and it but them in the butt. The St.Louis game was a difficult spot for the Saints. Seattle was just a thrashing. In reality the team should be 5-3 on the road which is very respectable.

I'm saying play calling. Payton knows the deficiencies if the line and has refused to adjust accordingly

It's not that they're awful on the road, its the discrepancy between home and away
