Corner always seems like a crap shoot. Outside of Porter's good 09 year how many truly good years by corners drafted under this regime have we had... Not to many I belive. Seems like most of our success has been in the moderate free agent market and Breaux who is just a special case.

I disagree. It's not just as bad. They aren't injured YET. If we scoot by without any or very few injuries, which is perfectly plausible, then we are good at the position. That is untrue of DL. There is no talent there at all. It's get some now, or we have no chance of optimizing the output there.

The draft is more than one round. There's time to get multiple other contributors.

I'm not in favor of a CB in Round 1 (it would be more palatable after a trade back where we got more picks), but I'm also not going to lose my shite over it.

If we got an impact defender, no one should bitch about it regardless of position.

Tracy Porter, Mike McKenzie, Jabari Greer, Kennan Lewis, Delvin Breaux, and Randal Gay all say hi.

Yes the drafting side has been more poor than not (throughout our entire history; Molden and Porter are the only ones you can speak well of), but FA have been more hit than miss in recent years. Only two truly bad ones (David and Browner).

But i'd hardly be mad if we got Hargreaves.
I'm not that impressed with Hargreaves, I looked good at him last season. He okay. This kid from the university of Houston is probably the best pure corner in the draft. Will be a pro bowler. LINK

This would be such a dumb move. We have talent at CB, it's just injury prone

Do you not remember how bad this board ripped our secondary last year? And now because everybody has their heart set on the line all the sudden our secondary doesn't need any attention? I'm confused

And it would be a no brainer pick. He will 100% not be there at 12. So back to my post.......

Hargreaves in the 1st

Vernon Butler in the 2nd

A trio of Breaux, Lewis, and Hargreaves could be nice. Especially since Hargreaves can play the nickel. Then with a rotation on Swann, PJ and Wilson. I think we'll be fine.

Butler will be gone probably. He's been sneaking into the 1st.

My thoughts exactly. Most wanted to lock in a $15 mill a year contract on a player who was unknown last year at this time but is completely opposed to use a first round pick on a player playing the same position. Atleast if the first round pick bust, then it won't put us deeper in cap hell.

It will be funny because it will just show how flawed their thinking is. The game is won at the line of scrimmage. I REALLY want a DT that can push the pocket and cause pressure. Sorry but I won't be excited with a DB at all

Go BPA on the defensive side.

Hopefully Rankins or VH3 are there

If they go corner they likely won't trade back. The top 2 will be likely be gone in the top 16 picks

we have drafted quite a few corners and dbs in the top two rounds recently

2008-Porter (2nd)
2009-Jenkins (1) we also took a db on next pick in Chip Vaughn
2010-Patrick Robinson (1)
2013-Vaccaro (true safety so shouldn't count)
2014-Stanley Jean-Baptiste(2nd)
Last year we took PJ Williams in the 3rd

since Payton/Loomis drafted dbs

Pj Williams, Damian Swann
SJB, Sunsari
Vaccaro
Corey White
Johnny Patrick
PRob
Jenkins, Vaughn
Porter
Usama Young, David Jones
Harper, Josh Lay

Pre-Payton but still Loomis
Josh Bullocks
Keyuo Craver, Mel Mitchell

Remember Detroit and wide receivers back in the day they went 4 straight first rounders at wr: Rogers, mike Williams, Roy williams, and then finally hit big on Calvin Johnson

I would prefer we address the dline first round, but I always like bpa too

Yeah, it's all a crapshoot but it seems like if you hit on a stud defensive lineman they can be very influential on the entire D

It honestly doesn't matter.

There isn't a single position on the defense that doesn't need help.

When you can't stop the run or the pass anything is an improvement.

The only corner I would want in the first round would be Jalen Ramsey. But I think we can get any of the three DTs on the board and will be just fine without having to spend to get up there for Ramsey.

Mckenzie wouldn't be there in the second so maybe throw a dart on Robinson late since he is capable of shutting Mike Evans down twice a year!
