Even less FWIW: quote:Fletcher Mackel? @FletcherWDSU FWIW, I've been told if #Saints are offered #18 for Cooks, they'll take it in a heartbeat! So we'll see. I still think Cooks for #18 happens

So NFL reporters tweet out random bull that may or may not be true to get more clicks.....This is the beast that social media has created.

I'll put some stock into this and not from the other splash reporters just trying to get their name out there.

I'm told the #Titans offered the #Saints the No. 18 overall pick for Brandin Cooks, and it was turned down, per source.

If true maybe they just don't feel any pressure to get a deal done and will hold out until closer to the draft.

I've been saying this. Teams are reaching out to us and it's going to take a king's ransom to get a 23 year old speedy two time 1,000+ yard receiver.

And we have no rush to do it because we have him for at least 3-4 more years (with tags).

I say we shoot for the stars! Worse case we are stuck with a very good WR for a few years. Best case we get a high first rounder AND a defensive guy

I worked with him for a while.

Reporting is not his day job and he wouldnt share something unless he believed it true.

And fwiw I despise pretty much all media people.

John is a good dude.

SAINTS are adamant that they want BOTH a high pick AND a proven impact defensive player for BRANDIN COOKS....

Not mad at this at all. We hold the leverage here. I didn't give them enough credit. Figured they'd jump at the first decent offer they got.

I don't know about that guy in particular, but the Sun Herald has actually broken legit Saints news before (as well as other teams).

They've been more right than not from what I've seen.

Also are you fricking serious with this? When have the NOLA natives ever been right or broken any Saints news. Payton hates almost everyone of them and feeds them bullshite all the time.

I mean what could they be waiting on? Who else is in the market for WRs besides Pats, Titans and Eagles?

A deal worth taking. Or ya know they can actually just keep him.

Hated this? I said if this happens it will be for a VERY good deal, because we have zero reason we need to trade him.

I just think it's people asking for Cooks with shitty offers and we keep turning them down.

The 18th overall pick isn't a shitty deal IMO

It is imo. We got him with the 20th and he has done nothing but prove to be very very good, and he is only 23 fricking years old. That's incredibly valuable, especially considering this is his 4th year and he's younger than some guys in the draft.

One Angry Midget, who has been extremely right in the past on a variety of Saints news (Keenan Lewis injury, Byrd injuries, etc) has been insinuating on twitter that they will most likely get a deal done with the Titans and that its for more than just a 1st round pick.

Saints also traded their 3rd round pick that year to move up to 20 to grab him, so Saints 1st (27th) and the Saints 3rd round pick to move up 7 spots to 20th.
