We must be close with something better than this because we should have jumped on this.

Cooks is worth more than the 18, and he is still very valuable to us at his cost and effectiveness. We need more than this

Frick off. There's no way a guy from the fricking Sun Herald broke that news over the NOLA natives.

IF true, though, they must be holding out until the end of FA for teams that are desperate for a WR. But they better hope the Titans or Eagles don't land Alshon or DJax

well saints still have the leverage and it's possible they can even get more from desperate teams, especially when you consider he's on a good contract for two years and the prices of WRs right now. Garcon for 16 mil? LOL

This. No one seems to understand this concept. Garcon making $16M is the best thing that could happen to us. We can offer two years of an upper tier WR for about $5M a year ($2.1M this year, $8M next year). All this does is drive up Cooks' value and our leverage.

I mean what could they be waiting on? Who else is in the market for WRs besides Pats, Titans and Eagles?

I'm told the #Titans offered the #Saints the No. 18 overall pick for Brandin Cooks, and it was turned down, per source.

Garcon is not making $16 million. The report was that he was getting $16 million in the 1st year. The 1st year includes the signing bonus, so this is not his annual salary.

Unless the Saints are intentionally dropping news in order to keep upping the price.

Not sure why they would drop it to Hendrix instead of some one like Glazer.

Could be. If so, getting pretty risky at that price.

Still, from signing bonus or salary, the team is shelling out $16M for Garcon for the 2017 season. For $10M, you get Cooks (a much better receiver) for 2017 AND 2018. That has value.

My point exactly. There's no way this guy is less sourced than Holder, Duncan, Underhill or Katzenstein or however you spell his name.
