They are just giving him a jump on finding his next job.
He'll be missed.

Right now we have the #3 offense and #32 defense.

Payton and Ryan are not equals in terms of importance, and you stick with a proven commodity (Payton) over one with a pretty bad track record.

I'm still not sure why Ryan was the one we hired, but I hope if we make a change we go with someone hungry to prove themselves (like a positional coach on great defense) and not just the same old names that get hired and fired every year.

sean payton is a head coach and not an offensive coordinator. And our passing game has been hit and fricking miss. They were a shite show earlier in year.

It may not matter, payton is probably leaving after this year anyway

The most consistent coordinator we had was Williams, and the results were great.

Going into Byrd's first year here, the Saints looked as good on paper as any defense could and we still shite the bed. I'm not saying Ryan is the only issue, but he needs to go. Period.

Maybe others need to go too and we obviously need more talent, but there should be no debate that Rob needs to be on the first plane out of NO.

Come on. We all know he handles the play calling for offense.

I don't know. A part of me could see it happening but right now I truly believe he stays because he wants to get this team back to where they were. I don't think he would be satisfied just running away to another team while the Saints were in shambles.

Add to that his loyalty to Benson and Loomis, and I think he stays.

According to vegas, the chance he leaves is way greater than what people are saying

Then demote him to Offensive Coordinator and hire a Head Coach that will fire lower coaches when they suck and will make sure players are on the field when they're supposed to be, and will curb penalties, and the list goes on.

Payton is the head coach. He is supposed to look after the entire team. If your only way to defend him is to put up stats about the offense, currently top 5 in fumbles, interceptions, penalties, and penalty yards, then he is obviously a failure as a head coach and he should be demoted to where you think he belongs, offensive coordinator.

I would be stupid excited to bring 3G back. He is the best DC we had, he was a part of the Superbowl staff, and he was the DC during the greatest 3 years of Saints football in NFL history.

But we need a hungry defensive guy who can bring on a whole new staff and attitude.

We've become the NFL's version of a Big 12 team. Payton's refusal to be aggressive in fixing this defense is absolutely part of the problem.

And I thought the "anyone else would be better" line was funny after Williams.
And Spags.
