two games standout from 1984 for me and i remember them well.

on the road in cold weather against cleveland. we had 56 seconds left in the game. richard todd at QB. ball around our 20 or close to it. down by 1 14-13. Clutch drive i believe clinched by a Ty "in the sky" young catch into browns territory. Terrible FG conditions but Morten Anderson comes in and nails a 53 yarder for the win 16-14. talk about a nail biter.

Also, when we beat the steelers on monday night football. I believe it was our first ever win on MNF. mark malone was Qb for steelers. I remember a Dennis "dirt" winston pick 6 that game. it was fabulous. We won 27-24.

all those first key wins or games stick. MNF, first playoff game against vikings. first win against rams. first NFCCG against bears and then first SB. all special.

The 1987 game at Pittsburgh with the goal line stand where we clinched our first-ever winning season is one of my favorite

good to see I'm not the only one who remembers this

for me that stand was the official end of Mecom and the start of the new era

ahh yes the goal line stand by the D and sam mills.

I'm gonna go with a regular season game from the Aaron Brooks era, just to go against the grain a little. Week 13, 2000 Season, at STL. We won 31-24 against the greatest show on turf in Aaron Brooks' first career start. Very exciting game.

in 2001 on the road @ St. Louis was great too.

Saints were down big at halftime like 24-6 or something and ended up rallying to win.

Saints D got like 7 turnovers in that game? That was the same year the Rams made it back to the Super Bowl but lost to NE.

My first Saints game was the NFC Championship vs. Vikings/Favre in the Dome.
Most incredible sporting event I have ever witnessed, considering the circumstances. I remember the entire stadium was practically in tears at the end of the game

ETA: We rekt Favre from the very first snap.

That was 2000 regular season not 2001 regular season when rams made their 3rd trip to the SB but lost. but yes the year after in 2001 is when we had the great comeback in St. Louis. I remember that one well. Aaron Brooks had his breakout game in St. Louis the year before if you recall..we beat the rams in st. louis then lost at home then beat them in the dome in the playoffs in 2000.

The entire 1987 season.

Easily the most exciting season of Saints football until 2009.

There was in no particular order:

1. A player strike
2. Epic Mora tirades
3. First winning season ever
4. First playoff appearance ever
5. A 9-game winning streak
6. An unbelievable goal line stand against the Steelers to clinch first ever winning season.
7. Benson boogie

Can anyone help me out with this one? There was a game against Cincinnati in the late 80s. It was the year the NFL tried out penalizing teams for crowd noise.

The Dome was going absolutely ape shite over a bad call that negated a 1st down catch and we ended up getting like three crowd noise penalties in a row.

They kept showing Boomer Esiason on the sideline egging the crowd on as we ended up with like a 3rd and 50 or something insane

I've looked at all of our schedules trying to figure out when it could have been but I can't find it so I think it must have been preseason.

Can anyone confirm this wasn't just a complete figment of my imagination??

Nov 11, 2013 when the saints utterly destroyed the cowboys on Sunday night football (back when we used to host Sunday night football and we were almost unbeatable in the dome). We set the franchise record with 625 total yards and an NFL record 40 first downs. I miss us just owning teams.

after my two great 1984 games i added above earlier i will also add a great game from 1985. when we won at frisco with kenny stabler at QB 20-17. that game was considered a monumental upset and it was. later in year Bum was fired and wade finished out last few games.

Archie's first game as a rookie, scoring on a QB keeper to beat the LA Rams.

We really thought we were on the way. Finished 4-8-2, I believe, which was actually an improvement.

Beating the Cowboys and Herschel Walker on MNF on a last-second Andersen FG. Enjoyed the Cowboy fans crying at the Library Lounge in Monroe.

Thursday night game, 2006ish, beating the Cowboys (again), with our FB scoring three TDs.

1987, spectacular year in the annals of Saints football until they got arse-raped by an 8-7 Vikings team 44-10 in the Dome recall Rich Gannon even gained playing time that game
Wasn't that the first payoff game ever? I was there and the lead up to the first playoff game was special. The game ...it sucked but I don't remember anything after I fell out of the terrace section.

saw the Saints play the Cowboys in '98.

Emmitt Smith got shutdown that day and Kerry Collins had a moment of clarity throwing a beautiful bomb to Andre Hastings (I think) that basically covered the length of the field.

pretty sure Dallas was a playoff team that year.

left a nice pothole in their season that day

November 10, 1991, the Saints beat the 49ers at home 10-3 en route to their first ever NFC West title.

Saints 10 49ers 3 (boxscore)

This was also the game where there was a fire in the rafters of the Superdome.

Superdome rafter fire

December 23, 1990. The Saints go out west & win in Candlestick against the 49ers. The defense played lights out that day holding the 49ers to 10 points at home. Saints 13 49ers 10.

Saints 13 49ers 10 (boxscore)

November 20, 1988 at home in the Dome. The good guys smacked around a John Elway lead Broncos team 42-0.

Saints 42 Broncos 0 (boxscore)

I don't really feel like reading the thread but if it hasn't been mentioned, the game where Turley threw the Jets helmet. While it cost them a win, that Saints era really didn't matter whether they won or not. It was like the ATTITUDE ERA of Saints Football.

The Patriots game in 2009 brought me so much joy. I like the Pats but to utterly dominate them the way we did was unbelievable. I also liked the Dallas game in 2006 when Mike Karney scored 3 TDs because Parcells laughed at Payton for suggesting that they should use the FB more when they were at New York. That was the biggest from one coach to another that I ever saw.

Another one from the wayback machine: Bills vs. Saints at Tulane Stadium the year that OJ broke the rushing record. Saints held Juice to 70-something yards and won the game. Was OJ's worst rushing game all year.

That Pats game was also one of my favorites. We knew that the team was special that year but this was the game that gave us respect nationally.

Some good clips of that game along with some really old footage in the youtube video linked (including the 1st ever game with the opening kickoff return for TD).
