Last year is the only time I can think of where the main person mocked to us was actually picked

Cooks was talked about quite a bit on here and on some mocks but wasn't constantly mocked to the Saints

06 Bush was expected but top 2 is easy to predict a lot of times

Just stating an observation. Have no intention of predicting anything.

Safe and upside are different characteristics.

RB? Really? I mean I wouldn't mind McCaffery at 11, but it wouldn't be because we are filling a need.

It would be filling a Sean Payton "want."

We just gave up Cooks to improve our defense. I don't think we did that just to get a similar player in McCaffrey. Could be wrong though.

Me too. I think Sedrick Ellis was pretty widely thought to be our pick ( him or Dorsey ) back in 07 I believe. But if I remember correctly DT was an absolutely massive need and we were picking around 10. But that was also a wife and two kids ago and I'm drunk.

For someone knocking Barnett for athleticism, Harris has EXTREMELY similar numbers, but a much worse 3 cone. Harris had a better 40 by .06, but Barnett had a better broad by 8 inches.

And Barnett blows him away in production. And is heavier.

finally, someone with some fricking sense... and i'm not the biggest Barnett fan, either, but if you take Charles goddamn Harris at #11, over Hooker, Barnett, etc, then you deserve everything that you get as a result....

Looks really quick. Quicker than Barnett.
Yet, he's not really. He also does not have the hands Barnett has and struggle against the run.

I don't want to sound down on Harris though. He has potential and more polished moves. He's also a bit like Reddick in that he can drop in coverage too.

But at this point Harris is more potential than proven, though in the end he could prove to be a better rusher.

I think I would slightly prefer him over Charlton, though either at 32 would be fine (though neither may make it). No way at 11. I prefer someone more proven that high up.

I like to see the Saints trade down to the mid teens and select Watt. Select a corner with 32 pick. Extra pick, Saints pick TE Butt.

Day before the draft a lot of people pegged Kenny Vacatro and Malcolm Jenkins.

7.05 3 Cone

Actually I'm seeing 7.35 3 cone drill from Harris pro day:
quote:

Josh Norris? @JoshNorris Apr 18

Harris did retest at 3-cone and ran a 7.35 https://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=127236&draftyear=2017&genpos=DE …

Here is the included LINK

Here is Harris' Relative Athletic Score

Taco Charlton

Haason Riddick

Composite scores (with pro day results) are typically near the bottom of the pages).

EXAMPLE:

Of course, this is merely athletic prowess and not pass rush moves, etc.

Only a 3rd to move back that far would be a bit of a fail.
Actually that's plus points for Saints.

#45/#77 for #32, would do in heartbeat.

Going by the chart it would be 590 to 655 and favoring us.

But 32 has a premium because of the 5th year option so it's a pretty even trade overall.

I think the issue is that pro days are typically hand-timed (because schools and player have incentive for good performance) and it depends on the source who was hand timing. I've seen the other number floating around too.

Who knows for sure?

My choice would be 2 players between 45-77 over one player at 32. I think the quality of player is negligible and would allow to address more needs or double down if desired.

ETA: Unless someone unexpected drops to #32, then I would use the pick. But I think #32 this year could be a prime trade down spot.

i'd be alright with it.

i'm all for adding pass rushers.

don't care about their pedigree either.

Epic melt down if we do this. My jaw dropped watching this crap last night. I'm not against Harris, but at 11 it's a ridiculous pick. Not a fan at all of that trade either. Drop back 13 spots and only pick up an extra 3rd?
