once they announce the butler deal is done, there wont be any news or anything new to talk about for the next 6 weeks until the draft

Considering how shitty the Saints are at drafting defensive talent (especially in the secondary) and the fact that they have about a three-year window to win, I am fine with giving up 32 for Butler.

They have a top 10 defense next season, better start checking prices for flights to Minneapolis in February.

Yeah cause the CB we take at 32 is going to be better than a 2nd team All-Pro. Some of you idiots just hear the words "1st round draft pick" and act like a dog chasing squirrels

I don't trust our drafting enough to say that we are guaranteed a solid player at 32 anyway. If they trade the #11 pick it's a different story tho

He's only worth a 1st if someone is willing to give up a 1st and I don't see it. Why give up a 1st and pay a big contract too? Malcolm may be better than whoever we can get at 32, but we could draft a good player at 32 and still have money left to sign someone else

well "duh" he wouldn't be here if it wasn't going to happen, its just a matter of working out the language and how much is bonus vs salary.

I think saints and pats already have a handshake agreement on trade value and compensation so.....

maybe an announcement comes on friday

I'd like the Butler deal to go through even if it costs #32. We've already swam upstream the last three years of "Brees Window". Look at the league, QBs are difficult to find. Especially a franchise one. Get a proven young CB that already knows the league. Use the remaining window and build the defense at all costs.
