That Armstead contract being restructured pretty much says everything.

not overly, armstead's bonus was always going to be restructured, just a matter of when. I mean saints had a good bit of cap space but we still need to make moves like this to make all the moves we want.

It's foreplay building up a huge load behind a top NFL corner signing. That's how.

Love blue but blue eats our cap too much. I like to give Orange a 1 yr prove it deal.

There are different steps that have to happen frist before Butler becomes a Saint, so I doubt it. He either has to A. Agree to an offer sheet, and then the Pats decline (unlikely), B. sign his tender first, the Saints and Pats "officially" agree on compensation/executive the trade, the Saints and Butler "officially" agree on contract terms. The first news that breaks about this won't be that Butler is a Saint.

anyone ever think about the fact maybe butler is waiting on the saints to give the green light to him to go sign the tender... you know there's cap stuff and other signing saints were wanting to maybe line up and iron out first.

I feel like this would be a bigger domino that would need to fall before the Saints make other moves, not the other way around (besides the Armstead restructure).

Blue is legit. You know what you get with blue.

Orange will never make an impact in the league. Book it.

We have more than enough cap room for Butler.

Not counting Moore or Tapp (the later whom probably got vet minimum and the former not too much more) we sit between $15-16 mil under.

And with the way Loomis backloads deals (see every multi year contract this year and 99% of all other multi year contracts he's ever done) Butler's first year hit likely won't be more than $6-7 mil, if that.

None of us have a clue what's going on at the moment, but I don't see why Butler would be waiting for the Saints to tell him to sign his tender. I feel like even if Butler signed his tender today with intention to be traded and signed here, that there will be a few days in between those actions. Signing the tender and immediately trading him could draw the attention of Godell, as it is basically working around/finding a loophole in the RFA process.

These things ALWAYS happen like this.

Literally every RFA trade has been two teams talk trade, player talks to new team about deal, they agree and he signs tender and is traded and signs the new deal usually all in a day or two.

The only difference here is the teams involved.

While I don't doubt what you're saying, I'm drawing a blank on recent, similar situations like this.
