It's not without reason
Proving my point. We don't know that he did anything that bad, same as we don't know if Brees was behind this. People just assume because Brees' name was mentioned that he had to have done something.

The guy publicly stood up for the coaching staff and FO during the season.
His contract is a discount even if we gave him some future stability. His actions on the field and discounted contract should far overcome a moment of stupidity when he was worried about his future (rightfully so apparently)
He's the only guy on defense that you could truly take pride in last year. He refused to leave the field

I would have been in 100% in favor of it until the instagram crap. They're obviously trying to change the locker room and they don't want people around who don't fit it

By all accounts he's been a great teammate and helped recruit browner, his friend, after the fact
A moment that he almost immediately restated shouldn't overshadow what he's done here
He's obviously back on board since then, but this just confirms what he feared

No one is saying that was a smart move.
That 30 seconds of stupidity doesn't come close to measuring what he's sacraficed financially to play for his hometown team. Then you bring in his refusal to miss games for the good of the team...
I ran into him before the Cincy game at the team hotel after that injury happened vs SF. I asked him if he was gonna play. His response: "they'll have to drag me off the field"

Lewis' agent got in his head and had him "go off". This backfired when it became apparent that no one is safe and he would get traded to a place he may not be all that enamored with for the same pay.
It's business, but bad business on his agent's part. I don't think KL would have done this in this manner. I think the Saints will make the contract a bit better for him, but only Brees is untouchable - this year.

hmm good question. If that value was a draft pick, I'd still rather keep Lewis- a guy who knows the system and is a venerable veteran type guy.
