He's an NFL back. Not a good one, not a bad one. With that being said, he's good enough for our offensive style. A real stud would be cool, but not needed.

Anyone who tries to use stats to show Ingram is good hasnt watched him play. Hes fricking soft with no speed. A great combo for a RB...

ah yes, the "Eye test". The method of choice for people that dont like a player and can't find a legit reason why.

Pretty sure everyone in here has seen him play.

Ingram is a high floor, low ceiling guy. He can do a little of everything, actually made a few difficult catches this year. Problem is he can't create shite for himself. He's not a speedster, cant shed contact, and doesn't have great vision. What he will do is not look completely lost no matter what you ask him to do; whether it be pass blocking, catching, screens, etc. He holds onto the ball at an above average clip.

I was on the "we dont give him enough carries to really know what he is" bandwagon until some point last year when I felt like I had seen enough year in and out. He is what he is, could be worse, and honestly it'd be a waste to invest serious assets into the rb position in this system. Although to contradict myself, we did invest some serious assets into Ingram, but those assets would have been taken away had we not used them when we did.

In summary,it's complicated.

Seeing some of these responses, i highly doubt it.

Legit reason why .. Absolutely no vision, no wiggle at all and goes down way to easily. We used a 1st and a 2nd on him and there are 15 other backs who i would take over him in a heartbeat in the NFL today. shite Atlanta has two who are light years ahead of what he brings.

yeah and our Oline can't block the run for shite. had to get positive plays when the Oline is letting him get blown up in the backfield.

Please list the 15 you'd prefer, oh and let's keep it at 4mil or less.

The easiest way to tell if a Saints fan knows absolutely nothing about the team or the sport is to ask them what they think of Mark Ingram. If it is negative I don't bother listening to anything they have to say.

Ingrams cap hit

you have 20 backs that have a higher cap hit than Ingram. If you are really bitching about his money then I dont even know what to tell you.

2.5 million cap hit on a 155 million dollar salary cap.

Since these dumbasses can't do math: that is 1/62nd of the cap. LESS than 1/53rd which would just be the value of his roster spot.

Ingram is far better than the 53rd best player on this team, so he more than carries his weight. The stupidest argument these morons use is that they're "tired of paying 4 mil a year for a guy like that!" pretending like that is some huge sum of money. Far below the median at his position for a player that is playing far above the median.

100% totally irrelevant to a critique of his abilities and 100% totally not his fault at all.

Get over it.

meh..... That is a stretch. But your point stands on its own merits without this. He is good value, and he is dependable.

Every time I watch a game live and Ingram gets hit in the backfield there's a chorus of "Ingram sucks."

If your that bias and/or know that little about football, I cannot help you.

And no, he's not a great RB, but he's one of the rare ones who can run, catch and pass block with efficiency.

Seems like if you're an LSU fan, you hate Ingram. Everyone else looks at his stats and realizes he's probably a top 15 RB given enough chances but that he's a RB on a pass happy team.

I mean, y'all could draft LF7 and just have him disappear in the biggest games and then everyone could blame the Oline and play calling. Seems to be on par for LSU fans.
