Im on the hes extremely average but thats all we need tip.

If we wanna talk stats......lets look at league rushing rankings real quick

Yds 23rd
Yds/attempt 24th
Long run tied for 65th with 17yds....
Tds tied for 41st with 1
Carries 23rd

It looks to me like he gets just as many carries as his play warrants to me. He doesnt have a single ranking higher than his carry ranking.
He's certainly serviceable, can block and has 0 fumbles, but he's not scaring anyone. Lets not forget defenses dont give a crap if we run so he's doing this against defenses that are more concerned about brees. You put him on another team with a different non hof qb and a better run blocking oline, I'd argue his stats get even worse.

If there was a ranking for runs with wide open fields in front of him but gets tackled by a shin grab, hed probably be up there.

I dont hate the guy and hes on the super cheap, but you guys are trying way too hard.

Why don't we just look at what he did with a better run blocking offensive line last year....

I mean you could argue it all you want, but it would be pretty silly logic.

We didnt have brees last yr?

If your point is that we change nothing about team but make oline better at run blocking, that the rb would have better stats; id agree obviously, i think everyone would .

He wasn't the same QB for several games last year due to his shoulder injury. Ingram showed what he can do when the offensive line can open up holes (and no other RB, including Khiry, was able to replicate his production).

And no way his numbers would get worse with a better run blocking offensive line. His yards after contact hasn't been an issue at all.

You post stats, but it's hard to separate the play of the offensive line from the play of the RB. And so far, our injuries and match ups have greatly benefited airing it out, which we've done successfully.

I want to say over 30% of his touches went for 1Ds or TDs last season. I'll take the production any day of the week and twice on Sunday's.

I dont know what to do, we cant use the eye test to evaluate ingram, and we cant use stats either. Im not even sure what you are arguing outside of better oline, hed be better, like no shite brother. What was so much better about last years oline? Its basically identical. Armsteads missed time both years, evan is older but peat should be better right. Are they simply just playing worse bc ingrams stats arent as good? They definitely are related, i obviously agree.

I like him, but hes not really special, and his pay and touches are right where this team needs it, and what his play dictates.

he isn't special, he is just above average and thats it. he's just above average at everything, nothing fancy about it.

But the reality is that this OL has been piss poor with run blocking since Nicks left. Grubbs was average at best, then having to replace centers like a circus until Unger was acquired.

But the reality is that Peat and Armstead side by side made some nice holes that allowed Ingram to actually get 1-2 yards before contact (you know...pretty much league average). You can't run behind Strief/Evans any longer, but they're still above average pass protectors. So when Armstead/Peat went down, the interior OL went to shambles again, can't generate a push at all, and thus you have to settle for a short pass game as supplement to a run game.

I agree matey, i hated letting nicks go, team has never been the same since losing him. We cant produce enough running to be a balanced football team.

It was between him and colston and in hindsight, he probably would have been the right choice if you also assume he wouldnt get staph here or go off the rails once he made big money (i think the fo's main concern). We made the safer choice. Hard to hate as colston is greatest wr in franchise history.

Ill just end with this, MI was a free agent going into 2015 and he ended up coming back for a contract that is tied 3 ways for 14th in nfl (so exactly on the slightly above average line), so if im wrong about him being average than so are 32 nfl teams because that is exactly what he gets salary wise.

Ingram is averaging 4.7 YPC this season. I don't know what else you want from the guy.
