so making threads about "Drew's bitching"

Ive already changed my terminology and stated that twice in the thread.

Does Drew's refusal to sign the original deal, causing the team to have trouble signing other key players and make key upgrades change your opinion of him?

Hows that?

What original deal?? Don't you think the details to what this "original deal" consists of is important to answering your question?

I don't know. I've heard different numbers. If he really wants to average 23 mil a year, then I think he's contradicting his earlier statements this off-season about wanting a cap/team friendly deal.

Whichever original one the team gave him, that he turned down, assumably for more money.

You can play ignorant all you want. But most people would say that the team gave him an original deal that was turned down for more money.

If you'll ignore common sense to fit your argument, then go for it.

But I guess maybe he did turn down the original deal, because they didn't hrow in a new hot tub for his house. That's actually probably what did it.

right but how much more money??

If they offered him a $15 million dollar deal that he turned down, well that would have a different effect on people's opinion than if he turned down a $21 million deal right?

Who the hell "deserves" 23 million dollars a year to play football? I agree we should pay him what hes worth, but I'm so sick of people saying he deserves 23 million dollars.

I'd be happy with 1 per year.

Raising 3 kids in New Orleans sure must be getting expensive.

Maybe if the NFL ever stops being a billion dollar industry people will stop complaining about how much the players make

Think there is anyone on this planet that would pay you $1 million dollars to do anything?

Cause I know at least 32 owners that would pay Drew $1 million to just be their backup QB

Because a lot people are going to take the majority, general public opinion that's amazed someone can not be happy making 14-15 million dollars a year.

So what type of salary do you think football players DESERVE and what do you base that on?

no, I would not blame Loomis in that situation. If any player deserved the money to cripple our franchise, it's Drew

:notsureifserious:
No player is above the franchise.....not even the franchise player. Brees, by his own admission did not break those records on his own. He did not block the defenders and he did not catch the passes. It boils down to he and his agent demanding the same or more money than Manning got in the first 3 years of his contract - $69 million. This demand reminds me of Paulie from Goodfellas. "You need a little money to sign some other players to help keep the team competitive? Screw you. Pay me! Signing this type of deal will cripple the team down the line? Screw you. Pay me." And when the team is ruined because they had to give in to the demands, you light a match.

the people you are talking about are like the other guy in this thread who just bitch about the salaries of professional athletes.

They would bitch about salaries if NFL players were only making $600K a year and the rest of the NFLs profits went straight to the owners pockets

No intellectualy honest NFL fan is going to be pissed because the Saints offered a Drew a $14 million dollar deal(which is a lowball offer in terms of Drew's talent and where QB contracts are) and he turned it down

If he turned down 18 million a year, then he's being unreasonable. He went on the radio right after the playoff game and claimed that he was going to have a contract negotiated that allowed for the team to have flexibility in free agency, then turned around and demanded 5 million a year more than the next highest paid player. What's the last team in the free agency era to win a Super Bowl that had the highest paid player in the league on it?

Screw that. I'll be fine franchising him year after year, and beyond that, if someone wants to offer some outrageous package for him, sign Matt Flynn and trade him. Flynn will come much cheaper, Payton can make him into a star, and he's much younger than Brees. I don't have time or patience for two faced athletes.
