not at all. He wants the cheddar, he deserves the cheddar, we didn't give him what he wants and deserves.

My opinion of Loomis certainly took a hit, though

Never thought I would see the day where any Saints fan, even a small minority, would turn on Drew Brees. Yet that's exactly what they are doing. Amazing.

Not turning on him at all. Just questioning the long term consequences of his decision.

He is a future HOF QB, the most accurate passer ever, led the Bless you boys to the Superbowl, brought the Lombardi to NOLA, ushered in the golden age of Saints football, and did it all without opening his mouth about money or anything else off the field.

My opinion is that Drew is a fricking incredible Saint and no amount of "bitching" will change my opinion of him. He could slaughter baby kittins on the field and drink their blood and i would cheer for him.

So when we empty the bank to pay Drew, and are handcuffed in other areas (replace Carl Nicks with lesser talent, replace Colston with lesser talent, neglect some ket defensive pieces) and the team loses 2-3 extra games for the next few years, will you be upset with Loomis for not being able to put a better team around Drew?

no, I would not blame Loomis in that situation. If any player deserved the money to cripple our franchise, it's Drew

There is a story about a conversation that was overheard in a airport on another meesage board that made alot of sense. Do not know if you can copy and paste from another message board, but if you can I will go find it.

Do not know whether it was true or not but it sure made a whole lot of sense with everything that is going on.

It's retarded to even question it. I get where the bean counter of the team has to be the bean counter with some of the other players. But not with Drew Brees. The Saints players are as follows:

1. Drew Brees
2. The other guys on the team

He certainly deserves to be paid among the top players in the league. But at some point, you've got to realize what you might be doing.

I've never thought Drew to be selfish.

But at some point, you won't be left with a 2, so 1 won't matter.

frick it, give Drew 97 million for this season and league minimum for the rest of his career. Fill the rest of the roster with scrubs for this season and then have over 100 million in cap next year. Championship

So you would rather ditch the elite player whose shoes may never be filled in the history of the franchise, with a bunch of replaceable other positions.

No.

If he wants to be paid highest QB in the NFL, he should be. He deserves it. Guy has paid his dues to this organization, they should show a little more support to him. Did anyone forget that Brees gave up cap space for our SB year? Pay him his goddamn money already. He broke records. He is prolific. His contract came up. If you're as good as he is, usually you get paid more than the other top guys. It will happen when Brady comes up. Just like Peyton before him. If Vick can get paid 100 million, what do you think Brees deserves?

Saints want to keep some cap space...I see that as an excuse. They don't want to make him the highest paid player but he is one of the best players in the NFL. If not him, then who Saints front office? FFS.

From 13-3 to 11-5 or 10-6? Still sounds pretty good IMO

assume he wants $23mm a year and they are offering him $19mm a year. That's about twenty percent. Twenty percent is a lot of percents. 100 percents is the most percents you can have and 20 percents of the 100 is almost twenty percent of the maximum percents.

Still, I have not heard any "bitching" from Drew at all and I refuse to believe it until I hear it from his mouth. Even if his agent came out and said it (which he hasn't), I'd chalk that up to nothing more than posturing for negotiations. Drew is smart enough to understand how this works.
