My B. I meant 2010. Had the 7th ranked D.

The 2010 defense feasted off playing bad offenses... it's not like we were shutting down Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady

You think bounty gate was in 2009?

Maybe it's time for you to head back to the rant
frick. Good point. We were fine again in 2013. Bottom line is bounty gate fricked us out of one season, and def has lingering effects. But it cant be blamed for the missed years before it (obviously) and all the shitiness after it. Our front office has sucked arse recently. They are to blame

You brought up the offense performance in the playoffs when 3G was here.

I pointed out the obvious.

San Fran had the second ranked defense that year and was tied for the lead in creating turnovers. They were knocking us all over the place. The hit on PT was vicious and you almost can't blame him for that fumble. Also, one of those turnovers was on a punt return. They could have done better, but they gave us a chance at the end. Drew threw for 462.

San Fran also had the 29th ranked passing offense that year, but we made him look like Montana.

And I did say that the 2010 defense was good, but that run by Lynch is all anyone will remember about that year.

I just don't get why you knight for the defense so much.

Pretty amazing, that if he plays 3 more years, and averages just 400 completions/ 4k yards per... he'll top Favre and Manning for completions and yards... he plays anywhere near the level of the past few years for even 2 more seasons, and that 3rd year is going to be just about how far ahead he is on the record.

Roethlisberger and Luck are the only 2 anywhere near being able to catch Completions/yards at their age/pace.

Drew won't catch Favre on pass attempts in 3 seasons, period. He'd need to average near 700. Or Manning for TDs unless he averages 37 TDs per. He'll pass Manning on Passer Rating, with a 3 season average over 100. 46 INTs below Manning, hopefully he can stay under 15.3 per on that. Even years have been rough :/ The Passing yards per game lead should continue to go up. Even Stafford and Luck aren't big threats at this one. Same for passes completed per game, and %.

3 just decent Drew seasons left, and he can retire:
1st All Time: Completions, Yardage, Yards per game, Passes completed per game, Completion %
2nd All time: Touchdowns, Pass Attempts
Top 5: Passer Rating
NOT Top 10: Interceptions

I think Drew would totally disagree with you. He would say we gave him everything. The only team willing to take a chance on a QB that was supposed to be done.

Bingo. From the door of being done, to not missing a game and setting new personal bests at yardage while going 10-6.... He hit the ground running, and never had a reason to doubt himself again... Imagine if they had hung the Miami losses on him... They would have blamed the shoulder, healthy or not.

I forgot how much FUN it was to watch his defenses take the field... Kind of like LSUs defense when it was nasty in its prime... you never ever missed a possession because there was always the possibility of a turnover or someone getting their fricking heads taken off

It was great

GWill was an adequate coordinator, but 2009 was just the stars aligning perfectly... I mean, we had fricking broke down Mike McKenzie coming off the streets and picking off Tom Brady.

Still no explanation for that performance.

I just have to say they did give Brees a 100 million dollar contract. It's not like he's suffering

Most on this board blew off the BountyGate penalties as though it would hardly be a speed bump. My own conclusion at the time was that it was the end of the era of Saints Dominance.

people will quote that we sucked at drafting.

2012: Kelechi Osemele, G
2013: Kevin Minter or Jamie Collins LB

looks to be in a lot better situation...
