Watching him play last year, I definitely saw him as a 2nd-round guy. We'll see what happens this year with more talent around him.

If he played for a Don Nelson coached team, that would be true.

That gif(james harden) is not indicative of the entire league.

You're mistaken if you think the league doesn't play defense.

lol at people who don't think he'll be drafted.

He would have been gone in the 2nd round last year, and barring injury, will be drafted next year.

James Harden only gets away with it because of his offensive production. If he didn't put up points, he wouldn't see the court in the NBA with that lack luster defense.

Nothing about his game last year would have given any team the thought to draft him.
He could get drafted this year, assuming he gets a good bit better.
Johnny is a much better pro prospect despite being undersized a bit and he went in the 2nd round. Too many teams looking to give that pick away now a days, or draft some European guy that will never come over.

This kid is an average college player with no hops, line drive jumper, no finishing in traffic skills(other than wide open dunk) and zero ball handling skills. The only upside is his body type. He could be a four year player and still not get drafted in 1rst round. I hope I see tremendous improvement in all phases this year.

Im not saying I want him on the Pels right now...

But Martin is a better player than most of the people on here are giving him credit for. DraftExpress has him as the 22nd pick in the draft right now. Will that stick? not sure.

But, Martin had an ankle sprain in the 1st minute of the 1st game last year. That pushed back his development a lot. That 1st month of college bball is typicall OOC opponents and where you get used to the college game. Instead, he had to do that in conference play and it was just a slower process. He was much better during the back end of the season after he became acclimated to the NBA game and progressed as a player.

Im curious to see how hes developed as a player this season, along with Mickey.

Martin is not a 3 and will benefit from not having to play there as much. It doesn't look like he's as tall as we thought/hoped so it will be tough to get drafted very high as an undersized 4. He rose back up the mocks after some camps this summer, he was apparently impressive. Hopefully he's in shape and dominates this year.

I like Jarell and he will be really good for LSU this year, but he got way too much hype for dominating a bunch of 6 foot white kids in high school

He needs to improve his post game, that's where I see him playing in the pros IMO

This just isn't true. Revisionist history is nasty.

People who get paid to analyze potential NBA players and predict who gets drafted also say Martin will be drafted. I'll side with them.

He got away with this in high school, got to college and doesn't know the "game" of basketball. Yeah, he can dribble, shoot, pass and such but he looks lost in the actual team aspect of the game. He's out of position a bunch and takes himself out of plays by not being where he needs to be. Hopefully he has improved upon his knowledge of the game and comes around but as you move up from high school to college to pros just being athletic doesn't mean you're going to be a great player anymore.

There job is incredibly difficult to do. They look more at potential than anything else, and teams draft on potential.
no one can predict which basketball prospect will be worth anything once he gets to the NBA.
You're lucky to get 10 starters out of the first round 5 years down the road.
there's just as many quality players that go undrafted that end up playing compared to those that go in the 2nd round usually.

Just b/c some draft experts expect him to get a lot better this year, doesn't mean he's a sure thing to get drafted next year. THey are expecting him to be much better than he was last year. He plays like he did last year, he wont' have to think about entering the draft b/c it won't be an option.
He has potential, more than most and most of which is god given like his height and athleticism, but if he never cracks into it, he'll amount to nothing more than an overseas baller at best who gets tired of living in Turkey or China after a few years and comes back to the states to finish his degree and get a real job.

He'll get drafted on his athleticism and size, but that doesn't mean he's going to pan out and I would like him for my team.

Worth a second round risk pick? Sure what the hell, but as of now, he's not a guy that I'm thinking, "yeah we could use him and need to snag him in the draft."

All that can change though if he has something new to show us this season for the Tigers.
