Nice get, but this isnt an upgrade over Lopez for this season. Hes a late 1st pick. I still expect Demps to get a veteran big body.
But I do like him and think he can develop into the third big they need.
edit- to be clear, think moving GV/RL was worth it to get Evans and Im glad Demps got a prospect in trade too

Lopez's one redeeming quality was he had a decent hook shoot and short range shot, but was horrible at rebounding and bad at defense. With Tyreke and Jrue, his offense is no longer needed.

Using history as our guide, it is almost certain Withey will not be as good as Lopez, let alone better.
Find me a 2nd round rookie C that had as good a year as Lopez did last season.

Maybe the plan is to put Davis at the 5 more, but if not, Lopez is a better center than Withey right now. He actually was a nice rim protector (2.2 bpg Per 36 and 9th in the league in BLK %).
If I remember correctly, DX said Withey has trouble defending pnr as well.
I like Withey. Im glad they got him.But for people to act like he is better than Lopez right now is silly.

Agree. I think he's a nice get and will gives up some minutes, but he will need to develop.

I think Withey is a perfect complement as a 3rd big as he develops. But expecting him to be as good as Lopez this season is a reach
