Trade Deadline is coming soon, Upvote to keep Ryan Downvote to trade

We are in the playoff hunt but looking at the bigger picture. Ryan has a lot of value to grab young talent or a pick and he's not worth investing 16 mil+ in when we have a huge hole at the 3 and 5. He is also terrible at defense so I say trade.

If we keep him, we have to ship off Tyreke and/or EG.
If we trade him, we should still ship off Tyreke and/or EG.

Only way we should trade Ryan is if Tyreke, Gordon, or Asik is in the deal too

I have said the same thing since last season.
Ryno is a very good player in a vacuum. If there was no cap I would absolutely keep him. But that isnt our reality and I don't think retaining him is the right longterm move.
Right now we have 3(outside shot at a 4) choices: trade him and get some sort of long term asset/value, retain him temporarily and let him walk for nothing, pay him a very hefty sum in the offseason and the outside choice is a sign and trade in the offseason.
I think 4 isnt likely to happen or net much in the way of meaningful assets compared to choice 1. Choice 2 is the worst because you get nothing(outside cap space) for one of Demps better moves in his tenure.
And as much as I like Ryno, he isnt worth the salary he is going to command. Not for this team at least. The window is likely closed but I would honestly rather a questionable character guy looking to prove himself with a chip on his shoulder like Morris for 8 million a year then Ryno for 15-20.

Same for our situation I would take Ryan over Morris due to salary and our needs.

Hmm, you would take Anderson over Morris going forward if those were for some reason our only two choices?
Curious the reason. I know Morris is a gamble and not my number 1 choice but I could live with him and maybe a draft pick.

I meant the other way around I would take Morris over Anderson due to the money we need to invest in the 3. A guy with his production and his salary allows us to do that while also cushioning the blow from losing Ryan.

This team is not making a run this season with or without Ryno. I like him but we need a long term piece that can assist in team building and he provides neither. Jrue and AD are our franchise flip at will with the rest of the roster.

I kinda thought so but wasn't sure.
I 100% agree. Morris is a good(possibly great) contract that better balances offense and defense and plays into the scheme that Gentry wants with ball movement.
Not my first choice but I could live with it.

I think you keep him and try to build the team around a core 3 of
Davis
Holiday
Anderson
Anderson is an elite scoring 4

the real question is whether or not this is contract season Ryno or the Ryno that would actually play like this for 3 or 4 more years. He's not an injury prone guy. One freak accident. So you can count on him to play. But is it worth having 2 guys at max contracts at the same position? Probably not. but his cap space could be useful in the offseason. so i say keep him and then let him go in the offseason unless you can get a pick and a decent mid level SF.

I'm not for tanking so I say keep him. Dump reke for a serviceable wing and go from there.

I hit the wrong arrow on my phone- hit the down and I meant to hit up. Ryno is far more valuable than many people realize. When AD is out or sitting, Ryno is the only player that can be a scoring machine. Unless you're replacing him with someone that can do the same, keep him. Ditch Reke and EG for your 3 and 5.

Nah
He's an asset
People want draft picks
You have to give up stuff to get them

Who out there is willing to give up significant young talent for Ryno? Someone who wants to do some sort of sign and trade? But who? If you're absolutely determined not to re-sign him, I suppose something is better than nothing. But that's the most you can say about a trade.

And Davis is an elite scoring 4 too. That just isnt a cohesive lineup to build around.
Davis doesnt want the 5 life and Ryno is an awful defender and unfortunately streaky.
Plus can anyone seriously say that is going to be the core that moves us into the Warriors tier?

To be fair we have no idea what AD will think in 2 years

Would rather find a third team and unload Asik.
