If we are going to trade the 1st, why not package it with a less neagtive asset like Moore + filler to get a better starting guard.

I agree, I'd rather package Moore and a first (and maybe Diallo) in order to try to land Fournier or Bradley.

what cap space do you even create/save by dumping Hill?

The basic theory is that the Big 3asy by themselves take up just $59 million. So if you strip it down you can certainly add another max guy and Brooklyn was the only team he could sell himself on taking Hill. But I still don't see the need to dump Hill unless it's part of signing Hayward or better. I can even see having Asik on the roster next year.

They take up $59M this offseason. But trading Hill for Linn does not actually create any space this offseason. Linn is $12M next year with a 15% trade kicker and Hill is $12.2M. So you don't create any space trading Hill for Linn.

It would seem the bigger bang for your buck is to try to upgrade Moore into a starting guard on a decent K with the 1st. We can package the 1st to dump bad contracts and not take back players, but then we have to get someone to come here this offseason with that space.

Justin Verrier was on the Dunc'd On Basketball pod yesterday discussing the Pels with Nate for about 45 minutes. Nothing that most of us who are plugged in probably don't already know, but it was an interesting listen.

Kumar has a great interview with assistant coach Jamelle McMillan LINK He has a lot of explanations for why the team sucks so bad right now. For the most part he goes into detail on why changing roles makes players look like they don't know how to play basketball. I think whether you accept what he says as excuses or reasons will depend on if you're glass half full or half empty.

- AD/DC are still figuring out how to play with each other and when they figure it out then the rest of the guys can fall into place.

- AD/DC enjoy each other and really are excited about this even though it hasn't gone their way yet. They do see something that's really cool and can be special.

- Guys had gotten used to certain roles and scoring from certain places and now all of that has changed.

- Interesting comments on Cunningham's shot. He shoots a lot better from the right corner than the left corner and the reason is he has the exact same motion every time from the right side but 3 different motions shooting from the left side. When he gets the left corner figured out his 3P% will go up 2-3%.

- Solomon Hill has never been a shooter. He thinks this time next year he'll be much better and improve like Cunningham has.

I agree. But that squad would get wrecked by CP3, West, Chandler, and Peja. Maybe they had more bball culcha.

I get that, and it makes sense, but basketball is basketball regardless of who you play with. When you've been playing basketball for this long, you should have a feel for where you should be, and when to cut, and when to clear out, and so forth. I know they haven't been together long, but they've played with Cousins for 8 games now. No it doesn't happen overnight, and the two people i would expect to struggle the most, AD and DC, are not struggling, it's everyone else. There's no reason for the rest of them to not know their role when only one of them is out there. They aren't playing that many minutes together.

Somethign very simple in the raptors game i noticed, which came on the defensive side, but still is part of my point. Joseph drives from the left baseline and has no where to go with it as he's cut off and lead to the baseline, like your supposed to do. Moore is on the right wing covering his guy and never moves, even though Patterson is sitting in the corner wide open now b/c AD left him to cover the drive from Joseph, like he's supposed to. Joseph hits Patterson for three, Raptors take the lead with a little over 4 minutes left and never relinquish it, after the Pelicans had just taken the lead for the first time in teh 4th quarter, and this was out of a timeout.

It shouldn't require coaching to tell Moore to cover the baseline, it should be an instinct from years of playing basketball. Problem with a lot of these guys is that they haven't been playing basketball like that in the past, b/c no one ever coached them to do so, or they simply never gave a shite.
