So what if they discussed it. We've learned that they have discussed a lot of crap, b/c other GM's know we are idiots and they are seeing what they can get from us. Just b/c we learned that the Pels, as well as Toronto, Denver and Chicago, and LA, and Sacramento had "talks" about Milsaps, doesn't mean any of it meant anything, which it didn't since nothing came close to happening.
Thanks for letting us know before it was reported by ESPN that we talked to Atlanta, who had talked to half the league about Milsaps, fishing to see if they could get a first for him, which they couldn't.

Buyers are liars, and so are sellers. they'll say anything to get what they want. You are just in a position where you get told crap by one of these liars, so they can get something out there without having to say it themselves. I seriously doubt you are going to find out about an actual McCollum/Jrue trade, that actually has legs, before anyone else.

If they are in talks about it, it's likely just another team seeing if the Pelicans will offer them something stupid, since we have idiots running our front office.

You are probably locking into a 2nd tier playoff team core, but Portland kind of already committed to that path when they made the playoffs instead of tanking the year they hit the reset button. If Lillard is as happy being in Portland as he claims, I say roll with it and be that kind of team for the next 10 years. You never know when the playoff matchups and injuries will line up right for you.

You know Portland a lot better than I do, but that bottom lineup seems a lot more balanced and you swap out a role playing caliber starter for a good starter.

Normally I think this is true, if a deal isn't imminent it's either dead or you're hearing about it because someone involved wants you to. However, we're far enough ahead of the trade deadline that some of the discussions that have taken place will end up being the 1% of discussions that result in a trade. I don't think it can be dismissed, just dissected and analyzed for feasibility.

You guys still don't fully understand how trade discussions work. They last for months, sometimes years. Leaks aren't always motivated like you think. Sometimes a guy goes, "Hey, we are batting these ideas around, what do you think."

You guys wouldn't understand it until you talked to higher ups. I didn't. There is so much casual convo and so many levels to trade discussions, it would blow your mind

Don't try to understand it. Just take the info and know that 95% of the time it won't go anywhere because executing a trade is HARD
