Exactly. Why do people keep thinking it's just about putting together a roster, especially when we just watched a roster of over the hill guys and nobody's close out a series, winning by almost 40, on the road?

Culture, coaching, player familiarity

Pels are deficient in every one of those areas and adding the right guy or two isn't gonna change that in a year or two

They would be the second best on NBA 2K. Have the second most talent

But no way they get to the WCF. No way

I think the adults on this board get that

Where would you rank that team and also tigerAtl had us with Evan Fournier in this situation maybe I like him as a player more so then you do but that would be a pretty tough team to beat. Also no one is saying that they would win a championship.

That team could easily get to a WCF in the next 4 years.

what they need to do is what they should have been doing all along
draft and develop players around Davis
this paint by numbers bullshite they keep trying isn't working and isn't going to work
Anderson/Gordon/Evans didn't work
holiday/hill/asik/ajinca didn't work

kings dumped cousins for a reason
they never even hit .500 with him and he's a pain in the arse

so fine, now they have him, for one year at least
adding another diva on the wrong side of the age and contract tracks is magically going to make them a 2 seed?

I swear I cannot understand where this is coming from, at all

Too late for that. Way too late for that.

ETA: Unless they get a top 2 pick. Fultz or Ball may be good enough to overcome the time limit.

ETA2: You seriously think that, after we land Boogie, that the draft is the way to build this team? No way.

Why do you think that AD/DC doesn't work? I don't know where to look to affirm the fact that Jrue+AD+Boogie had a good record, but I pretty well remember that the team played well after Boogie was traded here.

I agree that they should built through the draft with AD but do you really think AD would stick around for rebuild job like your talking about at this point of his career

Davis isn't going anywhere unless they actively force his hand with more of the same revolving door of flawed expensive players. it's like they are trying to show him how incompetent they are

I'll admit I'm still kinda salty about him leaving, but I'm not sold on him being the missing piece. I'd be kinda pissed if we spent all that money on his old arse. Getting quality depth would make us a better team.

I'm not salty about him leaving, he gave us his prime years and the ownership rewarded that with years of incompetence and capped off with trying to trade away Tyson Chandler for pennies on the dollar. The supposed breaking point where D-West and CP3 realized the organization was not dedicated to winning.

....Now that game where CP3 dribbled into AD's knee? A cheap shot tactic CP3 loves to do? Those are things I will always dislike about his character.

I'll add this, Jrue, Moore, Hill, Davis, and Cousins combined for a Net rating of 16.4 over the season. 111.7 O-rating, 95.3 D-rating.

Though I will say I felt that lineup was woefully underused for whatever thats worth.

do people realize the 2 seed won 61 games this year? the 5 seed won 51?

would Chris Paul make the team better? obviously. does he make them better than the Clippers have been? nope (which, by the way, is no booby prize; they've won 273 games the past 5 years). like Lob City, there are fundamental fit questions that likely cap their ceiling.

i love Cousins's game. i love Davis (sidebar- while arguably the best big in the league, he is most certainly not a top 3 player in the NBA. its 2017: if you cant create effectively for yourself and teammates you aren't in that discussion)

i think they will be good together. but here's the catch- you can love both of those guys, believe they can make it work well enough, and also have legit questions about the pairing

smart teams (rox, spurs, jazz, dubs, etc) draft well and take advantage of market inefficiencies. the pels ARE the market inefficiency

sorry for the ranting last nite I was buzzed and sick of watching smart teams consistently win with smart coaching and smart team building. We have none of that and it's not changing by any means except dumb luck

Ok your right I probably went to far with the second best team in the west but I also wasn't just talking about adding Chris Paul in the scenario I was talking about we also added Evan Fournier.CP Fournier SF AD DC would be tough to beat tho

I'm not sure you can focus on the drafting as the important element in the process. The best drafted players you're talking about from these teams have FAR exceeded expectations. It is competent drafting but most importantly mixed with good player development and team building. It does seem unlikely that the current regime could replicate that success, but Danny Ferry was able to build smartly in Atlanta so hopefully he'll return as a consultant and steady the ship a bit.

Also, so much is riding on Cousins and AD being happy with direction of the franchise next summer that I think you do need to cash in the 2018 pick.
