How were they giving up back door cuts trying to hide Zion when he was on the bench?

You clearly just have an agenda here

We can’t blame youth for this team’s pitfalls. It’s on coaching rotations for sure, but it’s also on Zion and BI for not being “THAT” guy.

Im watching this press conference by Willie- as usual giving this team excuses instead of lighting up their asses. Long season and their human- typical BS.

Lakers are a terrible match up.

We have no one to guard AD or LeBron. So we end up scrambling and giving up wide open 3s.

Hell, Dyson was awful defensively.

What? I thought he was pretty good. He was fricking guarding Lebron without help.

Dyson was solid on D...only Herb was better. Just like I said on Herb in his rookie year..."You guyz gonna luv Dyson in a coupla years...hide and watch"

Blame Willie for a lot of things, but LOL if you think any coach is going to rip their players to the media, especially in the NBA where ego's are even more fragile.

When people ask why we might need to trade JV- its teams like this. Lebron no one has answer for. But we have no one at all to matchup with AD.

Not many teams do to be fair.

And if anything, that would be more means to upgrade Larry. Afterall, he's supposed to be the more athletic 5, but he's too small to matchup with other athletic 5's on the few nights where Jonas is at such a severe disadvantage.

I'm not losing sleep over this loss. Just need to finish out the road trip with a strong 3-1 record and 4-1 going into the break.

I was hoping for a 4-1 finish going into the break so those expectations still true.

Zion was responsible for more wide open layups due to losing his man than anyone else tonight

He was. That still doesn't explain the 8 open layups we gave up in the second half when he was on the bench. The defense didnt improve when he came out of the game. The offense fell off a cliff in the second half when he came out.

I hate LeBron but the oldest dude on the floor played 37 minutes on a b2b.

Impressive.

I really think our guys partied hard Thursday night.

Yes, those are definitely anomaly's.

You gotta relax. Coach speak is a thing. If you think Willie is saying these exact same things to the team behind close doors, you wild.

I sometimes think the players on both teams get together and agree to just run up & down the court & let each other score a bunch of points in the 1st half...and then maybe play some defense...in the 2nd half.

Sounds kinda silly...but then...it IS the NBA, so who knows?

A lot of that was Trey when Zion sat. He was horrendous.

Hence the criticism that many in this board can’t accept .

The team is mentally weak and that starts with the superstar . . .

Out “best “ player is extremely flawed . Motivated or not he is a dreadful defender teams consistently pick on. He’s very hard to build around bc he has the shot profile of a center but can’t guard anyone and doesn’t rebound .

Our next best player is y consistent defensively and reverts to bad habits when things get tough and isn’t vocal .

Being called out in public is different and needs to happen. Thats what good coaches do especially if what you’re saying in locker room is not being heard.

Yes I agree on all this but you also need to acknowledge that Willie is part of the problem too. This is his team and his stars showing this effort. He in no way should be absolved of responsibility here.
