re: BI and Willie had an exchange during Game 2 according to Shams
Posted by AboveTheRim on 5/8/24 at 6:01 pm
I think this is an overreaction .
You think he was actually purposely sabotaging the team?
It’s a comfort and confidence thing for BI. Most of his shots come off the dribble and he like to get to his spots where he’s confident he can make shots …the 3pt line is that spot .
We all agre...

re: Pelicans are not expected to offer BI extension this offseason, moving in new direction
Posted by AboveTheRim on 5/6/24 at 6:30 pm
Anfernee Simons is another that I could see as a griff target .
Relatively low acquisition cost and not taking a big step back on court .
Would likely need a 3rd team however bc I don’t see blazers wanting BI in rebuild situation. ...

I’m not saying this is the move I make but I can see griff making it .
Don’t know about lavine knee issues , he had a broken foot this year that kept him out . But the fact that his acquisition cost will be so low and bulls will be motivated to move him is what makes this a griff play .
I d...

The more I think about this , understanding and hypothesizing how griff operates…I keep coming back to Zach Lavine , if he moves BI at all.
Zach Lavine allows griff to get a value trade , which he typically pursues . Think Lavine and Caruso , plus Maybe a pick or two . The incoming potential o...

Who are the teams that would realistically consider BI?
Hawks
Bulls
Pistons
Nets(?)
Lakers
Clippers (?)
Houston
Cavs
76ers ( added)
If you have others add it to the mix . Point being there aren’t that many teams.
Pels aren’t going to get a better player back imo. They looking ...
re: The Griff Era: Fan Experience

I have been saying this often as the fire Willie sentiment grew louder . Willie is not perfect but it’s an organizational issue. Going with a 4th coach in 6 years is unlikely to make any substantive change.
The head of the snake cares about peace , hope, and love . NOT competing at a championshi...
re: Burn it down!

There was no tone set from the organization from the beginning . leading up to the draft, they did nothing but praise him bc they were worried he’d spurn them . They let his dad talk at the intro presser . They let him get fat, he got injured, let his step dad call shots he got injured . Sent him ...
zion prime years are being wasted away
The person most responsible for wasting years is Zion and that is not debatable.
The organization failed by coddling the fat baby instead of holding him accountable and by wasting assets and opportunities.

re: If/ when we get swept does that force Griffs hand to trade both BI and CJ?
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/27/24 at 9:17 pm
early in a rebuild with the assets that we had collecting talent was a priority . We squandered assets and talent acquisition opportunities trying to force different centers on the roster and trying to be outlet shoppers on the trade market outside of the Cj deal . ...
re: Are we fooling ourselves with the "trade BI" soft rebuild talk?
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/25/24 at 1:47 pm
Cj has been terrific for us this season . He bought into his role and played it very well.
Playoffs are a different game entirely . He has to make shots at an high clip to offset his deficiencies defensively . That hasn’t happened yet .

re: Why is BI scared to raise up over Dort? And why does Willie hate Jonas?
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/25/24 at 1:42 pm
Jonas is getting run off of the court . I don’t understand how ppl are not seeing that .
There are teams that Jonas matches up well against and can be helpful . This is not one of those teams .
Thunder are begging us to play through Jonas bc they know they will abuse him on the other end and...
re: Pels vs Thunder 2
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/24/24 at 9:52 pm
BI playing poorly but Willie has to give him a chance.
Dort is an excellent defender and give bi trouble bc he’s stronger and plays underneath him . Get bi to his spots in the mid post and short corner so he doesn’t have to beat him. Use bi as a screener and cutter to get others going . ...

re: Players that we could potentially trade Ingram for straight-up
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/17/24 at 9:02 pm
You assume Trae / Herb, Trae /Dys.
What about Trae/Cj?
Or Trae, Trey, Zion?
Better score 140/night bc going to need every last one of them .
As cool as it would be to see the Trae/Z actions with lobs , floaters, and 3s, I don’t see Trae being a Pels target . They like length and frank...
re: Does everyone think bi will get traded
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/17/24 at 8:46 pm
I don’t believe I’m wrong on either of those . He’s constantly out of position , slow in rotations , and missing his help . Rarely gets deflections, blocks shots, or generates turnovers . There is more to defense than just guarding the ball especially when he’s often matched up on one of the weaker...
re: Does everyone think bi will get traded
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/17/24 at 8:23 pm
I get the KAT shooting fit but want nothing to do with him. Miserable to watch , not a winning player , soft as charmin, low iq , takes terrible shots , etc .....
re: Does everyone think bi will get traded
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/17/24 at 8:21 pm
The issue with Trey is he gives you nothing else . No D, no rebounding , no assist . So on days he’s not hitting shots he’s a liability .
So if your whole plan is for Z to be the Sun and each other player orbits around him Trey is a good fit for that. However when Zion inevitably misses time , ...
re: Win Friday, lose to OKC in 4-5 v Lose Friday, 14th pick.
Posted by AboveTheRim on 4/17/24 at 5:32 pm
Trading BI is still unlikely to me bc griff is not going to “win”. He’s going to be offered a lesser player or players and I don’t think he’ll part with BI for that . ...
