LOL this is so so bad. Man...

Davis, Jrue, Tyreke.

Literally the entire rest of our roster would get DNP-CDs on many, maybe most, NBA teams.

This is so so bad. Man...

I was hoping, by some miracle, some type of great chemistry would lead to us being a decent team. It was just offseason wishful thinking though. We just having a disgusting lack of talent. Almost shocking lack of talent.

Outside of Brooklyn and maybe Sacto, is there a less quality roster in the league, 2-15?

They actually have decent depth, but only 2 proven long term starters assuming Tyreke isn't here next year. This team can't afford for Buddy or Hill to be busts, both need to be starting caliber, or at least 25+ MPG worthy.

Its like 8-15th man, type depth though

Apparently Solomon was pumped about his performance tonight...

2-7, 5 points, decent defense, and self-congratulations post game.

decent defense

If that was decent defense against Kawhi, I wanna see good defense. Kawhi literally wouldnt even be able to move.

Also why didnt you post the other thing he said?

Do you disagree?

Agreed.

Except AD is already the Kobe on your team and Jrue is your Lamar Odom (when he can play). Until then, guys need to be better than, Parker, Brown, butler, Atkins, Mihm, Jones, Vujacic, etc

which they haven't shown they aren't.

lol

Kawhi was 6-12 with 20 points, playing preseason minutes. Pretend, if you want, that he couldn't have easily gone for 30+ if the game was at all competitive.

Because he essentially said, "We have to play hard, because this team sucks."

Congrats professional basketball player Solomon Hill, for playing hard. Could you possibly shoot better than 22% from the field, though? You're around 12 million dollars per FGM, at this point.

Yeah I agree. Kawhi was lighting it up in the 3rd quarter and Pop pulled him the rest of the game. He would've easily got 30+ on us so I don't know what "decent defense" he was talking about.

Granted Kawhi is a stud and is hard to keep in check but he was scoring at will in the 3rd quarter.

I don't get the urge to condemn Asik and the urge to justify Solomon Hill

It's clear to me that they will both be massive overpays when we look back at it a few years from now. The team essentially plays 4-on-5 when either is on the court (so, 3-on-5 to start the game). They both have positives on the defensive end or with intangibles. But they are the same guy to me, just playing different positions.

But one is the worst ever who we have to get rid of and the other is this Kawhi stopper who is going to eventually come around on offense.

I love the NBA so much. It's depressing that the Pelicans are the worst part about it for me.

Yeah it is depressing watching the past couple of nights. I think things will improve when the team gets healthier and Hield starts to produce some.

there is a legit answer----asik can't fulfill his role. hill can.

they are both limited players, dependent on how they are deployed. neither will put up STATS or points, but that doesn't mean their contributions are worthless.

yet, asik is an aging, injury prone, slow big in a league getting faster and faster.
hill is a small ball 4 with a broken shot but the ability to defend on the perimeter.

one has no future in the league, the other has a role...whether he is worth his $$ is another issue entirely.

this Kawhi stopper who is going to eventually come around on offense.

now, that is, obviously, a bit much.

there is the "i want to believe" aspect to the hill signing, whereas we know w/ asik. anyone that thinks hill is a 3 or will fix his shot in one summer/season is fooling themselves as much as those that think asik can still play 20 mpg competently

Did you watch the first half? I think Kawhi only had
4 points and was even 0-4 at one point, and he looked like he was really uncomfortable out there. Kawhi got going when Hill wasn't on him due to being out of the game/switches.
quote:

and the urge to justify Solomon Hill
Im not trying to justify him. Hill's defense last night was close to elite. If he plays like that every night will be the one of the better defenders in the L.

I just watched Kawhi's offensive highlights from last night. Hill was only "responsible" for 9 of the 20 points, but 6 of those 9 points were drives where the defensive help should have been better.

Also more from Hill last night:
quote:

"I look at it like this is where we want to be," Hill said. "We want to be offensively gifted like San Antonio. We want to be a team that runs and pushes the pace like Golden State. But the one thing that San Antonio does, and both teams do, is they play defense. We just got to lock in and understand that we don't have LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, Manu Ginobili or Kevin Durant, Steph Curry. "We have Anthony Davis and a bunch of hungry guys. Those little things [like] turnovers turn into 15 points for them. We did what we're supposed to do in the half court, but the little things are going to be the difference in a win and a loss."

Hope this loss can be a turning point.

Like I said, Hill has intangibles and defense. Same as Asik, who has defense, rebounding, and does things casual fans don't notice like set elite screens

And both have glaring, glaring flaws. Both are making over 10 mil per year. But only one gets absolutely destroyed every time.

One of them has also been here for several years and the other has been here long enough to have a cup of coffee.

I knew that was coming. But over the last 3-4 years, Hill has been far less productive overall. Even if it was in a different uniform. Now, I guess you can argue Hill still has upside, while Asik is who he is. But I just don't see it with Hill.

Like I said, it is clear to me that we will look back in a few years and see both were an utter waste. But I guess we can be in denial with Hill for a year or two
