Suns get Jackson, NOP 1st, and Detroit 1st
Suns arent taking back that salary for those years, even for 1sts. they're trading a 27 yo to reset the team; adding another one w/ 3/$51M seems sort of weird.

How is Jackson just a little bit better than Etwaun?
Jackson's $$+skill set are a bad fit. he is a guy who needs the ball to do anything on offense. that is valuable, but a team w/ Davis, Cousins, and Holiday already on board should not be looking to add such an expensive and ball dominant player.
maybe it can work, but this would be a desperation move for an idea that doesn't quite add up

In what world is Moore/Ajinca worth a player and pick?
If Reggie Jackson doesn't return to form he might be as bad of a contract as Brandon Knight. You have to pay to make that go away and SVG has shown he's fine cutting his losses and moving on. I don't think the Pels are in the position to take on a bad contract for a draft pick. However, someone on Twitter threw out what if Stanley Johnson were the asset included? Is a 3 and D prospect that can't shoot but is 20 and on a rookie deal worth taking on a potentially bad contract? Maybe. If Johnson/Diallo/Frank Jackson were to work out they go a long way to reduce some of the damage from other contracts on the roster.

Who else is available via free agency or the trading block?
I know we won't be able to sign anyone that matters because we are so cao short.

I see multiple articles in the past 3 days calling Stanley Johnson the future in Detroit after Morris was traded.
Doubt he'd be involved.

Jackson 16-17 (52 GP; 50 starts): 27.4 MPG, 14.5 PPG, 41.9 FG, 35.9 3PT, 5.2 AST
Moore 16-17 (73 GP; 22 starts): 24.9 MPG, 9.6 PPG, 45.7 FG, 37 3PT, 2.2 AST
Couple those stats with contracts and yeah, I'd say "a little better" is perfectly fair.
And to add to this, Moore had a better DRtg than Jackson last season and has a better one for his career.

I don't hate this trade if Jackson commits to being the Pelicans 6th man and playing 20 mins a game.
Could allow Pelicans to give AD/Boogie/Jrue max minutes together.
Other than that, I don't see how this trade makes any sense.

I think they'd be bringing him in to start.

I agree.
Not a fan of that trade.
We don't need more salary cap trouble.

So we're comparing one year now?
Again I like moore a lot but Jackson is the better player by a good margin

This is my thinking as well. Did Gentry not say last year that they wanted to play Jrue off the ball? I thought that he played 2 guard some also. Couldn't RJ play point and Jrue at the 2?
Posted on 7/11/17 at 7:25 pm to Broski
Is it possible for part of RJ's contract hit to stay with the Piston's if they negotiate it that way?
I'm not sure how all of these rules work, but i thought I heard something along those lines happening before.

Ok, fine...
Jackson career: 24 MPG, 12.2 PPG, 41.9 FG, 32.1 3PT, 4.3 AST
Moore career: 18.7 MPG 6.6 PPG, 45.7 FG, 36.9 3PT, 1.7 AST
"good margin"
Meanwhile, Jackson current makes $9M more per year than Moore.

No, basketball cap rules don't work like baseball ones where the Yankees can pay the salary of guys they are trading.

Okay, thank you for the clarification

Yea when Fletch interviewed Gentry, Gentry said he wants to pair Jrue will another ball handler. Which means that player is not currently on our roster. If they trade for Reggie he better start. I don't want $17 mil on the bench

Jackson is one of the worst players in the NBA when his contract is taken into consideration. Atrocious advanced defensive statistics. The guy was losing out in playing time for ISH SMITH. ISH.....SMITH....jesus
Posted on 7/11/17 at 7:35 pm to DeionDeion
I'm assuming that if RJ and Jrue are starting that the Pels think Cook can serve as the backup.

Ish Smith is fricking great bro

Per 36/Advanced:
Jackson:
17.9 PPG
6.4 APG
4.5 REB
43.1% FG
32.1% 3PT
86% FT
16.3 PER
WS 21.5
DWS 9.2
Moore:
12.6 PPG
3.3 AST
3.4 REB
43.5% FG
74.9% FT
36.9% 3 PT
11.2 PER
7.5 WS
DWS 5.2
The only thing moore really has better is his outside shot recently(if we're talking 16+ feet for career R-Jax has him beat by a nose) and yeah he definitely makes much less
