Omer Asik He's really bad - I don't see how anybody can say he's better at a single thing than Robin Lopez was.

Asik is the only person on the floor that has stopped a Westbrook drive tonight. He just stopped 2.

If you think any defense cares about the post up games of Bogut and Splitter or the jumpers of Howard and Noah, you're crazy.

You want to say Asik has bad hands, go for it. Its true and its a problem. But this idea that they can't have a good offense because of him is utter nonsense. Houston did fine with him.

The offense sputters with him because the scheme sucks and the players make dumb decisions; no one is forcing Evans to take contested layups

Asik's problem is when he tries to catch/rebound the ball with one hand. When he tries this, he fumbles the ball atleast half the time, if not more,

Asik had another stopped Westbrook drive in crunch time. I'm not going to say he single handedly won the game, it was a team effort, but without his defense at the end, there's a decent chance Westbrook is the hero instead of AD.

Wrong. The offense sputters with him because.....it doesn't the offense doesn't sputter. Our offense is great. It's basically tied with Cleveland and Golden State for 4th best in the league.

Our defense is what is terrible. And thats not on Asik. People get way too bogged down in the 1 egregiously fumbled pass by Asik every game. Our offense is still balling at a championship-competing level.

He just capped the shite out of Westbrook in a crucial moment, and pretty much won the game for us. Yeah. He sucks.

To everyone that hates on Asik, do you get it now after the last 5 minutes of that 4th quarter? If you don't, the problem isn't Asik, it's you.

Understanding defense requires watching the games.

Yep. He protected the rim from one of the best scorers in basketball. It was definitely a small sample size but it was a great illustration of how stats do not always reflect effectiveness.

There is a tendency in basketball watchers to think both teams are just taking turns playing offense against practice squads. I guess because meaningful stats aren't accrued on defense. Or at least they aren't frequently credited to the correct person.

Sure they do, in part, if you look in the right places.

Look at where opposing guards shoot when he is in v out.

I would love to be nice but his comments about Asik are just crazy. Do not take it personal though.

By far the worst scoring option on the team, clearly underperforming on defense, speaks less English than Vakidis. What's the solution here? Do we go after Jason Smith in FA next year to try to make up for his lack of productivity on offense? He's the most frustrating player to watch on the team for me.

This is because you don't seem to understand NBA basketball.

Are you serious? I'm defending Asik from the crazy guy who thinks every team needs an offensive center.

Call it whatever you want. Here are the facts:

Overall the offense rates at 107 points per 100 possessions, which is 6th in the NBA.

111 points per 100 (2nd in the league) when Asik is OFF the court

102 points per 100 (18th in the league) when Asik is ON the court.
