Its incredibly unlikely, but SVG might be able to turn Jennings/Smith/Monroe into Deron/Gordon/Anderson.

The situation is pretty bad in Detroit when trading for two expensive has-beens and a stretch 4 with a bad back is much better than what they've got on the roster.

That would be a solid roster turnover. Props to SVG if he can get that done.

Also, a lot of this depends on what Monroe will be making.

The max? No. He's the 3rd or 4th scoring option at best and might not be in the finishing 5 sometimes.

10-12? I'm listening.

And just to clarify, under the new cap the max goes up. You're looking at 4/$70 starting at $15.8 and ending at $19.6.

Especially for a young player with a pulse

What is Greg Monroe doing with a girlfriend back in NOLA? Does he have a wife in Detroit? :rimshot:

To add on to that, his girlfriend actually lives and works in New Orleans as a coach at Isidore Newman school. I've seen him in uptown New Orleans and around the Newman area during the summers and when the Pistons have been in town. So I think he definitely does have interest in coming here. I know that's some speculation, but I do think his interest is real.

Not that it was hard to believe Monroe would be interested in coming back home, but if he really does have a GF, that might actually be worth a hometown discount and not seeking the full max. Can anyone verify this info?

I can't. But if Monroe's choices are say, here and the Bucks, a million dollars a year isn't going to factor in, he'll come here.

But if its 3 million per year? He's going to the money.

No idea, but he is hosting a basketball camp at Delgado in June. Is there any way for us to sign Brian Roberts up for his camp?

He can't give too much of a discount or Detroit would hold onto him. Like Tyreke we'd have to overpay by definition, but I'd rather pay $12 than $16.

As much as I'd love to have Monroe, I think sending Gordon to Detroit, Monroe to Houston and Asik to New Orleans makes the most sense for our team, and for everybody else to a certain extent.

Unfortunately I think the Rockets are going all-in on a Melo/Love acquisition, and that will keep them out of deals like this one.

I don't think melo would want to be a 3rd wheel in HOU

Depends how badly he wants to win...

The whole New York experience has not treated him well, so he may look to throw in with a team who can get him to the Promised Land.

I doubt Melo would end up being the third wheel.

IF they are able to keep Anderson,

If they get Monroe, they need to move Anderson for wing help. I don't think he and Monroe can work defensively. And Anderson/Davis/Monroe is not sustainable. Playing Davis or Anderson at the 3 is just silly.

Plus they still need a better 3rd big than either Smiht or Ajinca. A guy who can rebound well AND not foul constantly would be super

I am sort of hoping Melo takes the pay cut and teams up with his draft class in Miami to see all the outrage. Epic troll job would be epic

Melo needs to decide whether his career or his bitch is more important.

And, supposedly, Houston was on the short list of teams they considered if he couldn't make it to New York.
