You rarely post on this board, but your watchdog senses started firing up that a pseudo-racial story was on here and you decided to make your mark as a jackass. Am I right?

Funny. You're the first one to bring race into this, and yet you want to call me a jackass.

Damn lol. Waste his time. I'll change it.

For at least 2 years after the team changed their name I still would see on a daily basis multiple people tweeting "when did the Hornets become the Pelicans?" If the doorman doesn't follow basketball at all, he might have just assumed they were some college players.

I stand by it. You were itching for something that you didn't get but you dug deep anyway.

I don't think he was trying to make it racial. His comments have all the hallmarks of a pet peeve based on personal experience in the industry.

I'm kinda glad, I hate when nice restaurants bend the rules. Next thing you know old boy wearing jeans and a polo is allowed in and we have Outback all overm

Literally no one is except for JayJay, but he is what he is as a poster.

No personal experience in the industry. Was just thinking to earlier today when I was in a meeting with all the other managers in my office and we were discussing our new company investors coming and touring our facility last week.
Rich important people (probably a higher net worth than AD), but the office assistant made sure they followed all PPE protocol and policies for visitors to the facility. And they complied with no problem. They didn't get to circumvent all our rules because their net worth dwarfed ours.
I haven't had a negative word to say about AD in this situation, but I don't assume the doorman is at fault because he didn't know who AD was.

About 1 year after Tommy Hodson had left LSU I had to go approve a check he wrote at the store I was working at. I didn't notice who it was when cashier called me over so I just asked for his driver's license like I normally would. The cashier was mortified that I had asked Tommy Hodson for his ID

Not really the same as a restaurant dress code that is selectively enforced. Doorman should've known better when a patron offered to rent out a private room even if he wasn't famous. Sounds like AD didn't "Do you know who I am?" the doorman. Also why is there a doorman at a sushi joint? Is this some hybrid restaurant/club?

How do you know it's selectively enforced?

Our PPE policy is more selectively enforced than the restaurant's policy I'm sure

The cue to maybe go talk to management is when the player busts out the "I'll rent out your private room and spend." Dude did his job I get it. But bball players also don't have normal life schedules and timelines. There's a difference between going to airport to nice spot to getting off at 5 and spending a couple hours getting ready for a nice night out. Plus when you have big dick money I'm sure there are different sets of big dick rules.

Jaden Smith will probably go there tonight wearing a trash bag and the Hollywood moron will act like he spotted Jesus.

I bartended all through college(and managed)....And even for a bit post college.
Doormen typically find the job appealing for some collection of these factors: power, pussy, punching people, popularity, easy money, or they are working their way up the chain.
But one common type is the "rules" guy.
The one that knows the policies of a place front and back and like to use that authority and knowledge to be judge, jury, and executioner in every situation. They tend to be more confrontational and do not have good lines of communication with management because they enjoy the confrontation and for them it is about them and the power trip they get, not about running the business ideally.
IDK if this doormen was the power seeking type, but that was my first reaction when I read the story because I could name you a half dozen just like him I worked with and where we had some similar situation emerge.

I'm sorry, but there is no way that Boogie is more recognizable than AD.
