Because he rejected a team of multimillionaires that are obviously famous basketball players.
So like one famous basketball player in a small market and a bunch of guys no one would ever recognize outside of die-hard Pelican fans.

And not only did he do this all because of a hoodie, but without the consent of the owner. I'll add in that he probably did this to feel powerful
He was probably unaware and just following policy and had no clue who AD was, but yeah, you can project that he was having a power trip or something
quote:
The place’s dress code does specify that “beachwear, athletic tops and T-shirts . . . are not permitted in the restaurant.”
From a quick google search. The faux outrage at this is amusing.

Why? Because he enforced a restaurant policy and didnt know a special exception should be made to a person claiming to be a basketball player. AD is famous but he's not recognizable to everyone
Yeah I'm sure this guy had no clue who the 7 foot tall guy wearing NBA gear offering to spend thousands of $ on a private room was.

So just because you are tall and are wearing NBA licensed gear you should be given the benefit of the doubt?
AD should have asked to talk with the manager, and if he did and was refused, then the doorman needs to be trained better in how to do his job.
If the doorman's job was to enforce a restaurant's policy without making exceptions, then he did his job and I don't see how it is his fault

Dress: Upscale Casual
We kindly ask that our guests abide by the Upscale Casual dress code at Katana.
The following items are not permitted in the restaurants: – Beachwear
– Athletic Tops & T-Shirts
– Shorts
– Flip Flops (Including Rubber & Plastic Thongs)
The dress code is strictly enforced and management reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who are inappropriately dressed.
Straight from their website. Story is a non-issue.
Agree that the world isn't fair and rules don't apply to those who are rich and famous, but these are the rules of the place and you can hardly blame an employee for following them.
Also, in researching the restaurant, this place isn't hurting for money.

Well if like 10 dudes ranging from 6'4" to 7'1" are wearing NBA Pelicans gear, I think its pretty safe to assume they actually play in the NBA. That would be the most elaborate scheme to eat at a restaurant ever created. You also missed the part about the manager running after them. I'm sure he was pleased with the easily replaceable guy standing at the door.

No one is arguing the dress code. That doesn't mean the door guy didn't screw up by not checking with the manager when the tall guy in NBA gear offered thousands to rent out a private room so his attire wouldn't be an issue.
And clearly the manager disagrees with your position.

The only part of the story that sounds made up. It says AD got in his car and drove away. And then the manager what, ran after the car?
Doubt it, but it makes a better story

Holy shite dude, you are trying way too hard
Posted on 4/12/17 at 2:17 pm to LSUZombie
I'm guessing the real problem is that AD isn't a diva. He probably didn't even say "do you know who I am?" or "let me speak to your manager!" a diva move any celebrity the doorman should have let in would have pulled. What he should have done is pulled out his phone and showed the doorman that he has over 1 million followers on twitter.

So Davis got back in his SUV and left, and only then did the restaurant manager come running out, freaking out at the doorman.
Obviously he didn't literally run after the car, but I'm sure he was in a hurry and wasn't too happy with a net worth of like $400+ million walking out the door over a hoodie. Solid troll attempt tho

I have no problem with this. They are in LA, there are probably plenty of celebrities who go there in appropriate attire. More power to them if they don't want to bend their rules for a celebrity.
I doubt the restaurant had a spare sports coat that would fit a 7 foot tall guy.

The only thing I take from this story is how well and professionally AD handled himself.

Finally, something we can all agree on

Who in the group is worth $400 million? All of them combined? Not even close.
And who was he even with? People are acting like it was him and the entire Pelicans roster. If it wasn't Boogie, I doubt anyone would have a clue who most of these guys are.
But hey, they are in the same $50 hoodie we can all buy so...

Lmao @ anyone defending the doorman in this situation. If I've got one of the biggest names in all of sports ready to eat at my establishment and even offer to rent out a VIP room, I don't give a frick if he's nude.
Posted on 4/12/17 at 2:33 pm to LSUZombie
Gotta break the cease-fire huh? All of them combined. Usually, most of them go out to dinner together. Even if I was hyperbolic on the $400 million, my bad $200+ million.
The Unibrow doesn't give AD away? He's probably the only person on earth that is able to rock that while making substantial amounts of money from it.

I'm mad AD would waste his time and money to buy out a private room. Eff that

To be fair I was typing that and didn't see your comment until after I hit submit.
Glad AD handled it with class and just pray we can build a winner with him and Boogie to keep him in New Orleans for a long time
I'm done.
