*reads the rest of the thread* Well, that's what I get for not paying attention to the flow of conversation beyond the first few posts.

Also, MM is an idiot.

Seriously, if the BSS guys approached things with a little more humor and self deprecation, they'd be better off. And some of them do.

The ones that act like self important holier than thou assholes do the rest of them a disservice. Have some humor about yourselves.

Still will listen to the podcast.

MM is such a tool. The guy thinks he is the all knowing leader of the media. In reality, he is a teacher who is a blogger as a hobby.

You guys should watch how much you mention he who shall not be named. He's watching over all of us on his raiders glorified blogger twitter account. Everytime he sees those M's his ego just grows even more.

ETA:
didn't want to stave away from the real point of this post; how much of a loser MM is

That last sentence is completely uncalled for and the immature BS that makes them think they're right to ignore what is said here. You're dragging us down man.

Uh, Dell Demps' end-of-season media avail. tomorrow just got cancelled. Expected to be rescheduled for a "later date," per a Pels release

This franchise is in trouble - crowds will look like the Dan Dickau / Jackson Vroman seasons next year

I check into this forum about once or twice a month, and while I may disagree with some (definitely not all) of the basketball takes here, most usually come from a solid amount of Pels passion/knowledge. Nothing wrong with that; given the current trajectory of the team, any sort of passion should be encouraged.

Conversely, the ignorant people will be ignorant, and therefore should be ignored.

I will never forget after the trayvon Martin verdict how Michael McNamara was crying on Twitter talking about his main passion being social justice

I said the same thing. Demps and Gentry couldn't find a championship with two hands and a flashlight.

If the other BSS guys and MM shared your tact instead of being condescending pricks on the message boards and Twitter, the BSS platform would do much better. IMO you are the only one that approaches this with the right attitude and I appreciate that. The others are much too combative and treat their own opinions/information as gospel while deriding fans who disagree with them. Your the only one I follow and the others would do well to emulate you.

Agreed. That shite was inappropriate and worthless.

Yes. Schwan's article on Davis's progression as a shot creator was very good and interesting. And he also had the line I've been trying to come up with for 3 years about Holiday as a "PG"

To paraphrase NOLATX, I don't always agree with what any of these guys say. I do appreciate that they spend their free time writing and generating discussion about the team.

They aren't NBA savants simply because they write on the internet or have sources in the organization. And most of them would wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.

Kushner just dropped a summation of events on twitter.
quote:

Scott Kushner ?@ScottDKushner 45m45 minutes ago

Nothing has changed regarding Demps' current job status. He's running the Pels front office. Nearly everyone in the org expects him back

However, there hasn't been a final decision whether Demps returns for '16-'17 by ownership. And press conf stretched too far into offseason.

Demps was out of town scouting/unavailable for nearly two weeks, making Monday the most logical date for press conf scheduling.

So, rather than a "season recap" like Gentry had 11 days ago, this presser would be focused entirely on offseason and the future.

And, if Demps can't answer the first question - will he be here next season – Pels felt there was no purpose in having him talk w the media.

The press conf was never supposed to be an indication of if Demps stays, the way most (me too) read it to be. It was expected to a recap

So, basically, there's nothing to read off of cancelling, except to say no decision is yet final. But it wasn't final when PC was scheduled

Summation: The optics of this are significantly worse than what has actually occurred over the past two weeks - which is basically nothing

I do find the explanation about the forward looking vs. backward looking presser odd. Monty did a presser last season without knowing his status and I don't recall the details but I'd be surprised if questions about his future came up and he answered them with generic coach speak like "I want to be here, that decision is out of my hands." Have Demps start with that and then move on to telling us how he can't give us any specifics about who he wants to draft or sign in FA. Seriously, it's not like these "forward looking" pressers are ever illuminating other than discussing general directions.

All of this points, again, to the guys at the top not really knowing what they are doing. Demps stays or goes, it won't really matter until they get their shite together.

It is fascinating how they have chosen to run this franchise. I get that Benson is likely losing a decent chunk of money with the Pels and that has played a huge role in how they have tried to build the team. I also get that they have enjoyed tremendous success with the Saints, so what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Yet, they can afford to be dicks and withholding with the Saints because people will put up with it. Many people don't care about the Pels much at all, yet they run the team like their is some huge local interest. People learned to love the Saints not because they were winners, but because they were our team (different circumstances, obviously, but the basic point remains the same).

To me, selling out on drafting any one over the last three years has been a huge part of this. There are very few guys locals can root for as "Pels" players. shite, it took many fans nearly 3 years to realize how bad Rivers was because he was "our" guy. Leaving out any opinion of the soundness of what they've done basketball wise, for a town as proud as NOLA, that's a fundamental misunderstanding of the market.
