Well. Better kill myself now so I don't have to sit through another miserable fricking season.

That was proven good when he fired Monty last year. Fans aren't giving this team enough patience and are just finding a scapegoat when there isn't one.

No one expected to win the title this year, we just want consistent improvement. Last offseason and this year were two big steps backwards.

I'm sure Dell also wants AD to play less than 70 games each season too.

Please name me a coach that could have gotten this years injury filled team to the playoffs just to be swept by the Warriors/Spurs.

Monty Williams (see: last year)

No one, but the coach didn't sign Asik to a ridiculous extension. Injuries derailed the season, but the roster overall isn't improving.

Not this year's team.

They know he doesn't fit the scheme. Wouldn't shock me if he's dealt this off-season

Please get back to me after free agency and the draft

Good luck with that

The only reason they are giving Dell another yr is because they just hired Gentry. If there is not significant improvement next yr both will be fired and the next GM will be given the opportunity to hire his own coach. It's not like the Pelicans will be challenging for a championship next yr anyway.

before we got qpon, monty led that team to 18-19.
realistically, he could have led this team to 41 wins even with the injuries. At the very least, he could have been better than Gentry

Monty had Tyreke and QPon down, the stretch. Definitely not the same team.

Monty also had a similar shitty roster to the one that began the season without a win in the first three weeks. He was able to win down the stretch with that roster.
And Timothy, you need to stop believing that just because you press buttons for a radio show that means you have some sort of insider knowledge.

If we somehow get a top-3 pick, do you want Dell Demps having control of that?

Come on now. We had more games lost to injury than any team in the past 6 years. No coach, not pop, Kerr, SVG or Stevens would have been able to get this years team into the playoffs.
I don't think Gentry was bad this year. Yes he used some strange lineups and rotations at times but I viewed that as just experimenting in the first season with a new team. He came into the year expecting Tyreke and QPon and got a revolving door of *insert out of league PG here* and *insert non shooting undersized wing here*. We saw what his system could do at summer league and the last couple weeks of this season. We just need a healthy training camp so we can train our top players in a different style.
I read a players tribune letter from Isaih Thomas and he said when he got traded to the Celtics he never had a practice or series of practices to learn the system so he just did pick and rolls and tried to make plays like he did in the uptempo system at Phoenix, and he had success because he was used to that style of play. But even then he talked about how nice it was to finally be able to learn the offense and defensive schemes this past offseason/training camp. That stuff matters. We had guys coming from a slow tempo offense miss a CRUCIAL training camp that would have given Gentry the ability to implement his full system instead of the hybrid crap we got the first half of the year.
Not only that but it's very important to have your players fully believe in the system, especially when it's a new one. And the league frickED us with our opening scheduled and we got thumped by the best team in league history twice in 3 games to open the year and then a plethora of playoff teams following. We never got the bunny games to build confidence in a new system so guys were more prone to trust old ways that have worked in their previous seasons than try the new way that hasn't seen any success since they started 1-11
I'm holding my opinion of Gentry till 20 games in next year. I still like the coaching staff we have on paper, just waiting to see if they can mesh well enough to make it work on court. A healthy training camp (health is rare for us I know) will be the final cushion I give Gentry. We suck after that and he needs to be gone, but I highly doubt we will
Dell can suck a dick, he's had more than enough cushion

Tyreke only missed 3 games the year before and he was a big reason we made the playoffs the year before.
