While we're on the subject - another underrated act. I didn't see them live, but from their live videos, in their heyday, they were outstanding. Rik Emmett is one of the underrated musicians of his generation - a poor man's, Canadian Peter Framption (probably better than Frampton, honestly).

I pissed my pants when Billy Joel sang "We Didn't Start the Fire" in the storming rain a few years ago at Jazz Fest. I thought that was awesome.

Saw them in about '83. Foghat was the opening act. Lonesome Dave's voice was gone by then.

Triumph was fantastic!

I've gone to 2 or 3 shows solo. It felt a little funny at first and it isn't as good as having someone with you, but I'd do it again if I had to.

I have no qualms going to movies solo or eating in a restaurant by myself, it just seems a little awkward being at a concert. I suppose if there's seating I'm good to go and I'll just get in the zone, but if it's like an open floor where you're standing amongst everyone I might be a little outside my comfort zone.

Oh well, I"ll probably talk myself into it anyway.

JJW is awesome. Saw him in the early 2000's at HOB in New Orleans. Was standing outside after the show with my wife, sister and brother in law and he came out with a 6 pack and drank a beer with us.

great thanks.

Also as an aside....anyone ever been to a concert solo before? I really want to see them in June but it's on a Tuesday and I'm already afraid most of my usual concert buddies are gonna pass.

Dude, go. Going to a concert by yourself is is the shite.

I will put in another "best song I've ever seen live." Actually two songs, but they segued into one another: Wilco - Misunderstood>Poor Places as the sun was setting on the beach at Hangout in 2012, I was by myself. I get chills just thinking about it.

One of the best I can recall was Free Bird. I actually saw them 2 days later on July 4th. It was a Day on the Green concert with Outlaws, Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Frampton. I was 17 and I was going to start LSU in August. It was one of the last blow out events with my high school friends. I saw Led Zeppelin, Derringer and Judas Priest at 2 other Days on the Green, but I attended those shows with my older brother and a bunch of "grown up" acquaintenances. Led Zeppelin was disappointing both days, they made numerous mistakes.

That was a pretty good month for outdoor shows. May was pretty good too. I Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers and Gary Wright one day. And Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Heart, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Foreigner another day.

I have a similar story. One of the ones that was high on my list, though not #1, was at my first Jazz Fest. Wilco doing "Side With The Seeds".

Paul McCartney playing Something

He didn't even write it but it was the highlight of his show.

Elton John playing Rocketman
The Police playing King of Pain
Billy Joel playing Scenes from an Italian Restaurant

Tough decision.

BB King playing How Blue Can you Get and Thrill is Gone at Bonnaroo in 2008 was surreal. It was in a field with over 50,000 people and you feel like you were in a tiny bar in Mississippi. The guy was just flat out fantastic.

Robert Plant singing Battle of Evermore the second year was great as well. I mean, it's Robert fricking Plant. Enough said.

The Weight by the band covered BY Warren Hayes, Dr. John, Ivan Neville and the Dirty Dozen was awesome at Jazzfest a few years ago.

Can't stop to open the Chili Peppers concert at Voodoo was unbelievable. So was the Handclapping Song they did as the encore with the Meters.

Rush playing 2112 was amazing.

3 of my favorite concerts were the Black Keys playing Voodoo when it was shite storming. Crazy energy in that crowd.

Tool at Bonnaroo was my favorite overall concert experience of all time.

And I'm not ashamed at all to say that Weird Al at the Sanger Theater back in 2000 was the shite.

Billy Jean - Michael Jackson in Seoul

What a performer....

Summer Wind - Frank Sinatra in Vegas...Sinatra fans would probably say he was too old, but to me it was what I imagined

Gentle on my Mind - Just watching Glen Campbell was terrific...him on the guitar was mesmerizing

Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney. Six times. The stage explodes every time.

Kashmir by Page/Plant back in 1995 rates pretty high as well.
