two of the best punk albums to come out ever, not just punk rock
fairplay, but I'm not sure i'd even consider them punk... sounds more metalish to me...
I'll give Heady that one... Double Nickels is the best punk record of all time...

you really need to listen to shape of punk to come
it's punk, hardcore, metal, rock and roll and jazz all rolled into one.
it was way ahead of it's time and still stands up as one of the best punk rock records to ever be released.

Not my cup of tea... Do not like...
Everybody has their own definition of what punk rock is, so your opinion is valid (obviously), I respect that
Awwwyeah, just found this from Lint and Jesse Michaels that was released this year... closest to an Op Ivy reunion you will get (probably)
Tim Timebomb and Friends - Living in a Dangerous Land

I know that this thread is kind of bullshite. But does Operation Ivy get any love from any of y'all out there? They're a little past the 20 year limit. I used to be really into them when I was into that kind of thing. I still rock out to Knowledge every once in a while when I get into a weird mood.
I listen to Op Ivy almost on a daily basis. They were way more than 20 though.

I actually really liked Tim Armstrong's ska/reggae album from a few years ago "A poet's life" very nostalgic

To include Fugazi which is my all time fav punk band you have to go back more than 20 yrs.
No you don't. In on the Killtaker came out in 1993, 20 years ago. And you still have Red Medicine, Instrument, End Hits, and the Argument (which cam out in 2001).
Admittedly, you lose Repeater and 13 Songs, but they were still outstanding even on their last album. And go check out the Evens. MacKaye might be 50, but he's still got it.
Oh, and I don't know who said they don't consider Fugazi punk, but if Fugazi isn't punk, there is no such thing as punk rock. They are one of the defining bands of American punk, particularly their DIY ethic.

NOFX has almost no musical talent, but they have some funny songs. I heard them on Conan about a decade ago. Honestly, you could find kids in any high school with more than 100 kids who can play instruments better than those guys
Bad Religion has to be at the top of the list for me. I like their stuff from the 90s and early 2000s better than their first records.
And while I'm sure they're considered sellouts by guys in Oakland who think Dennis Kucinich is a fascist right winger, Rancid and Green Day are very good, although Green Day hasn't been punk for about a decade.
Also really like Alkaline Trio.

descendants and minor threat have much more in common with what i think of when i hear "punk" as a genre. they more closely identify with 70s and what became of punk in the 90s than the sound fugazi developed.
fugazi was its own thing. too much going on there to just label it as simply "punk rock." if one was to construct a genealogy tree of punk as a genre, fugazi is def out on a branch all their own.
