re: First baby purchases - eye65 on 5/28/17 at 9:13 am
I wouldn't buy much of anything yet. Economically, go to yard sales, check Craigslist, and accept free stuff from people you know with kids. Your wife may not be cool with that though. We survived with cheap/free everything...that name brand stuff adds up fast. If you buy new, buy a stroller combo ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: You have 14 days to backpack, day hike, and explore the American west - eye65 on 3/14/17 at 2:48 pm
Agree. I would personally save CA for a totally separate trip and never go farther than about 300 miles from four corners...and camp most all of it. But it ain't my trip...good luck OP ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: You have 14 days to backpack, day hike, and explore the American west - eye65 on 3/12/17 at 10:36 pm
What's the maximum amount of time this trip can take? I feel like you will see a lot, but if you have to set up and break down camp daily how much are you really seeing? A lot of these spots are so amazing you might want a few days for exploring. If you're gonna put the effort in I hope you can stre...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Vacation ideas with a 2-3 year old - eye65 on 3/12/17 at 10:20 pm
San Diego is our go to spot with 2 kids. There's a sea world/zoo/safari park pass for I think 1,3, or 7 consecutive days...we have season passes to both now. There's Point Loma, down town, beaches, boardwalks, surfing, old town....plenty to do. Our kids love it. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Cost of living - Oakland, Ca vs BR - eye65 on 2/28/17 at 11:05 am
How much time have you actually spent in Oakland and are you planning to send your kids to school there? What type people are you? How urban can you tolerate living coming from red stick? It's crowded pretty much everywhere you go...and Oaktown is one of the most liberal, diverse and lawless places...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

I seriously hate hearing stuff like this. I wonder if she had on a helmet? I never wore one growing up but won't ride trees without one now. Tahoe about to get blasted again...supposed to go Monday if the roads are still open. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: what act is your litmus test for bad taste by a friend? - eye65 on 2/16/17 at 12:47 pm
I'm old and don't really have any friends anymore, so I don't care I guess.... But I diid have to hang out with my wife's coworkers husband the other day and somehow in a casual conversation he let me know he used to go to korn concerts. I had no response for that...it was a bit awkward moving ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Largest Dam in the Country at risk to fail EDIT- no immediate danger - eye65 on 2/15/17 at 5:46 pm
This is a crazy story...I expect this thread to go for awhile. With all the rain on the way, I'm not sure I could come back home and sleep if I was down stream from that thing. ...

re: The Mighty Five - Utah - eye65 on 2/13/17 at 6:10 pm
Bryce could easily have snow. Have camped it in the spring as they were opening a second campground as the snow melted. Zion and arches are crowded. Campgrounds can fill up really fast. Like by 11:15am at times. Finding a spot at capital reef is easy... My favorite is the needles side of canyonla...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: 2016-2017 Season long ski thread. All are welcome. - eye65 on 1/24/17 at 5:43 pm
Did you get to ride it? I got to go up today at heavenly...very crowded in spots, and nice in others. Supposedly they have been barely open and digging out for the last 2 days, so everyone wanted in on the action...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Alcatraz Night Tour - eye65 on 1/14/17 at 11:48 am
Dress warm.
This is the best advice...like hat gloves and coat warm if you want to be comfortable. The fog and wind will be rolling in late in the day and you don't want to be a shivering tourist....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Ski Resort Board: Lake Tahoe.... - eye65 on 1/11/17 at 6:20 pm
Heavenly is my home mountain..driving around could be really easy or not an option. Been getting crushed up there lately and some roads have been completely closed (including I80). If you really want to go to multiple mountains, I would suggest Kirkwood...could require 4x4 or chains to get to thoug...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
