1) Fix my banjo
2) Pick up the bass
3) Work on solo ideas for guitar (get outside my box)
4) Set aside time for recording
5) Buy more gear

Stop buying crap and concentrate on using the crap I bought. And actually practicing. NOT shopping.

1. Practice more as a vocalist. I want to be able to improve my range and stamina.
2. Make sure my band practices more often together to give us a tighter sound.
3. Write more songs, and finish some of the half formed ideas.
4. Set aside time to really learn how to record with my hardware and software and make some great music.
5. Play more shows outside of the BR area.
6. Make enough money off of shows, merch sales, and streaming to balance out the band fund.
7. Try to improve my stage presence and comfort level playing and singing, so I can have more fun up there.

It's easy when you're broke and can't afford any more stuff

I'd like to know where I'd be If I spent as much time practicing as I do shopping. Something to remember this year.

That's a big one for the band, hopefully a lot of Texas in our future. Other big one is always to keep writing and finishing a bunch of half -complete songs

My largest individual goal is to improve at keys/organ. Bought a hammond sk1 so I could play some b3/rhodes/wurly AND guitar at times. The sounds fit our band very well, now I just need to make sure i'm not a liability with the thing.

1. actually learn how to play anything that remotely resembles music

2. I really want to attempt to build a guitar (assemble from parts would be more accurate than build). but i don't really need/want the finished product, so can't justify spending the money on the parts. So if any of you want a guitar assembled by some schmuck that has never done it before, hit me up.

Yeah I tried making a guitar before. Stacked up on some tools and made a pretty good one piece mahogany body and a maple neck before needing to buy even more tools. Never got those tools. That was 3 years ago.

If I had more free time, I'd like to learn how to adjust the truss rod for my old guitar so I can try to repair it and maybe start customizing it. It's a cheap Ibanez Gio with a bent neck that's worth less fixed than the cost to fix it, but I wrote so many songs on it when I was younger. It means a lot to me, but I just haven't been willing or able to take the time and learn how to do what needs to be done.

Buy this book

It's not hard to adjust a truss rod.

- Restore my '59 LP Jr.
- Continue to learn fingerstyle songs.
- Start learning delta blues on the resonator.
- Make a space in my house for playing instead of a haphazard collection of guitars and amps everywhere.
- Learn the lap steel solo in Running on Empty.

Only one goal. Finish a 9 song album that we started on last year. It's much tougher than expected to make an album and work full time and dad.

It was a damn albatross to make my band's mediocre 5 song EP just juggling school and work schedules. I would imagine doubling the length and throwing a kid in there would be just miserable.

I do all that and play each instrument, puts me at an advantage.

I don't like having to depend on others.

Must be nice.
If only I could play drums...or any of the other instruments well

Haha, I wouldn't necessarily say miserable but it's definitely a daunting task at times. Luckily, with my job, I work on my own schedule and can set aside a little time each week to work on a song.

I started with drums at 10 years old, then guitar and bass at 12. I'm glad I started with drums, helped me be able to keep time with all other instruments.
