1. Set up and clean drums;
2. Tune drums--buy new heads if necessary;
3. Practice at least a few hours a week;
4. Damage control with neighbors.

Work harder on my songs( try to be more interesting musically,find more interesting ways to use my voice,to change and capture mood of my songs),do more recording,pitch songs harder.
These are always my goals though,so it's nothing new for 2017.

I have a shitload of material musically, so I need to write lyrics to all of them. Then I need to start performing again. I haven't played a show since I was 18. I am scared shitless when it comes to singing in front of people, even though recording wise I don't sound that bad. So my goal is to stop being a pussy and put myself out there in the music world, record an EP, do shows... and stop being a pussy.

Teaching my son some 80's solos that I have forgotten parts of. It's weird that I can't remember where my truck keys are at but still remember every lick of the In My Dreams solo.

Trying to teach him the Mr. Crowley solo the last couple weeks. The live Tribute one to be specific.

I like to think that most people don't jump on the "sell out" bandwagon until bands start actively tailoring their sound to an audience rather than just making the music they love, however, I think we all know that's not really the case.

I remember when I was younger,and in a certain band.. a couple of people in the band actually said to me : We want the people that like us,to be Fans of Pink Floyd,The Doors,and another band that I can't even remember..
I'm Like" whatever we can do well.let's do it",because you don't really choose your fans,they choose you. If we can rock some Chuck Berry Songs,and people are liking it,followed by some Skynyrd and Dylan,what the frick ever,throw in some originals here and there...

I remember, I would get up front and do: These Arms Of Mine,covering Otis Redding,and I'm not trying to sound like him,just making it our own. Crowd is eating i up. The reaction is so positive..,you look around at the people in your band,and they aren't happy worth a frick. A lot of musicians are reality retards.

I have been making the attempt to play my drums more.

Wish I knew better ways to tune them or how to expand on the things i have learned over the last few years.

Wish I had free time to play for hours and hours

Are these goals? Any highly skilled drummers have pointers?

There's a drum tech with some YouTube videos on tuning. Search Kenny sharrets.

He does some stuff that for whatever reason never occurred to me.

Use a reference pitch from a keyboard or something and tune each lug to that.

Then with the resonant head do the same thing with either the same note, a 3rd or a 4th above. He has videos of each demonstrating the sound.

While tuning place the drum down on a blanket, towel etc to mute the other head. Tap by each lug with your finger instead of a drum stick.

That pretty much covers the important points but go check out the videos.

What ZachPlaysDrums said. Also, if your drum kit hasn't been used in a long time, go ahead and take off the batter and resonant-side hoops from each drum, remove the heads and wipe the dust buildup off the bearing edges. Re-seat the heads and tune them up from scratch.

To ensure the head remains properly seated, tighten the tension rods in a "star" pattern; e.g. a quarter-turn on the first rod, then move to the rod directly across the head and give it a quarter-turn, then back across to the rod next to the first rod, and so-on.

I've found that tuning in a clockwise manner can cause the head to shift off-center, which will cause any number of nasty overtones. The "star" pattern method eliminates that for me.

Well.....I have no goals.....I don't believe in goals......But I've been playing Bob Dylan stuff so I picked up a harmonica.....I need to learn how to play them.....I'm pretty good playing it on slow songs but on 12 bar blues stuff I can get way off......So I guess that a goal... Luckily....Bobby wasn't a good harmonica player.

Playing harmonica is easy,but it's a bit expensive to have all the ones you need.
I don't know what method you are trying,but I always like to use a harmonica in the 3rd,to the key of the song.
playing guitar in G,use a C harmonica Playing in E,use an A...and so on.
You probably already know this,but somebody else might not.

Dylan didn't usually use this method,but most of the better players did.
I started to pick up some new Lee Oskars the other day, I was shocked at the price. Use to buy them for about 12 bucks.

Actually those are 4ths not 3rds. The 3rd to G is B and the 3rd to E is G#.

OK, I'll stop being pedantic now. :)

Of course you are technically correct,and I am not not one to think that way.Just meant 3rd whole note stepping up. Still stands though,C harmonica for G,A for E,F for C,G for D,D for A..etc.. Of course that's just general,as I said, there are other methods that I have never learned,and to be set up to play all the different methods and any key is expensive. More than I can spend on harmonicas.

I got you and it does make sense to use a harmonica tuned to the IV chord because it's a major chord. E.g., C major is in the key of G and A major is in the key of E.

That said, I know absolute squat about harmonica.
