[ryan bingham-country road]

Just picked one song from the list you put on here, and my God...that was terrible. Nothing remotely country about it except him riding in the back of a truck.

When I see tattoos, converse tennis shoes, and teased hair...I've seen enough.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone more country than Ryan Bingham.

It's not about his tattoos (which your outlaw country heroes had) or hair (which your outlaw country heroes had plenty of) or the shoes you wear.

Country is about the stories you tell and Ryan Bingham is one of the best at it. Especially his album Mescalito.

I'll admit Ryan Bingham is somewhat of an acquired taste, like a fine scotch...

Southside of Heaven

But some folks like Bud Light, and that's ok too

I debated not putting Bingham and Turnpike Troubadours on the list because they are not like the others, but dammit they're good.

Check out Eady or Boland and you'll be impressed.

Turnpike's not exactly hurting. And I don't look for them to sell out. Nashville is so not them.

Turnpike would fit in nashville about as good as an eskimo in the saharra.

Isbell was never in Reckless Kelly

You're thinking of drive by truckers and they're more southern rock than country in my opinion

Isbell's latest album southeastern is almost perfect though

Like classic rock, the only thing that makes older country good is not having to listen to the crap.

Go look up top country songs in the 70s and you will be disappointed.

So let me get this straight, these guys aren't supposed to be playing up to the country stereotype, yet their song titles from this limited sample size include references to drinking, AM radio, an old guitar, drinking(x2), Texas, pearl snap shirts(!), drinking(x3), drinking(x4), and country roads?

Ok.
