Some people will NEVER get it no matter how you try to explain it to them.

George Strait or the King of Country sucks?

yes. he's terrible.

it says a lot about the average country fan that he's considered "the king."

Everyone step aside, the expert is here.

If you want new music, look up Sturgill Simpson, Jason Eady, and Jason Boland .

Merle is the greatest musician of all time. Ignore anyone who says otherwise.
Waylon, George Jones, Hank Sr., and Hank Jr are in the next tier.
Johnny Paycheck often gets overlooked but is simply phenomenal at making you feel his pain.
Marty Robbins is the king of the gunfighter ballad.
Don't overlook the 90s - Alan Jackson, Doug Supernaw (very under appreciated), Mark Chesnutt, Doug Stone, and, of course, Strait.

If that's not enough, check out Porter Wagoner, Webb Pierce, Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley, David Allan Coe, Conway, and Buck Owens.

I'll try to provide links tonight if the chirren allow.

Country music was always about heartache

Not about trucks, drinking beer in the field, and other laundry list bullshite radio country acts sing about these days.

That's just pop music with a twang

But his album, you want regret it. Most of his stuff is not on YouTube.

He's going to be in the Marty Stuart show Saturday night for those with RFDTV.

Why do you call it "bro-pop-country" ?

Most people who listen to what I think you are talking about are redneck trash.

Radio Country music has changed, and traded in its gravitas and story songs for a new archetype of hard partying, tattoo covered, baseball-cap wearing white guys, looking for late night lovin’, and a perfect patch of tailgate grass.

These are the country bros.

The arrival of the country bros has set off a Southern music war with genre purists calling bro-country anthems like Luke Bryan’s “That’s My Kind of Night” “the worst song I’ve ever heard,” and bro-ready crooners like Blake Shelton rattling on about how, “Nobody wants to listen to their grandpa’s music.”

Whether you're a fan of the genre’s stoic old Southern gentlemen or the frat party-worthy newcomers, bro-country is here and it ain't leaving anytime soon.

Here are the telltale signs that the country song you’re listening to is classic bro-country.

I would strongly suggest:

Vern Gosdin
Keith Whitley
Earl Thomas Conley
John Conlee
Jerry Jeff Walker

I'll think of some others when I sober up.
